She gave one of the only good performances in this film. She seemed genuinely terrified in the second half.

She won a blockbuster award for her role as Helen so at the time her talent was quite appreciated by the large audience and critics..too bad that after The Grudge and the end of Buffy everything changed

She gave one of a few good performances. IKWYDLS is probably one of the most well acted slasher films ever made. The genre has never been known for its good acting (outside of like Halloween and Scream), but the actors in this do a really good job. Even supporting performances like Anne Heche.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Anne Heche are the only ones who were any good besides Gellar, imo.
I guess single-scene characters like Julie's mom were fine but the rest of the main cast was either awkward or terrible. I can't take Muse Watson seriously in the finale (although he is menacing before the reveal). Ryan Phillipe, Freddie Prinze Jr., Johnny Galecki and Bridgette Wilson are all kind of embarrassing, as far as I'm concerned.
The film is still entertaining, although I have a hard time cheering for the "heroes" of the film considering they're all killers themselves. There's not much suspense involved when you actually want to see the protagonists get murdered.

I hate pedestrians who think they can just walk anywhere they want. The guy crossed the road in the middle of the night, he had it coming. -

haha. Sounds like you would have fit in snugly with the main clique in this film. Some of them at least had reservations. You would have been leading the cover-up along with Ryan Phillipe.

Helen is one of the most beloved horror characters ever.

I've always thought SMG was a good actress. I agree she was genuinely terrified during the second half of the film. When she sees Barry getting attacked you really get a sense of panic coming from her. JLH and Prince are so lousy in comparison. She has the same vacant expression on her face through out the whole movie.

She brought a touching vulnerability to her tragic character in this film. I felt really bad for Helen. Poor gal had a horrible family and just couldn't get a break.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
