And those paint trays are used with rollers, of which I do not see one.

Not necessarily. Some people ARE stupid enough to paint without a tarp.
But the thing that makes me think it's likely fake is the way she fell backwards onto the couch (which was in a perfect position for this fall) and made the tray spill on her face (and the couch) for maximum effect.
