It doesn't sound like she gave you very actionable advice. For example, they might see which subjects you weren't actually struggling in and help provide a pathway into careers that were related to those subjects.
Or perhaps she was speaking from experience and you reminded her of herself -

My cousin does this for a living, and after years of seeing every imaginable form of death coming through the county coroner's office, it began to take a mental toll on her.
