The last baby boom came about following 12 years of the most left-wing president in US history, robust social policies and record-high union membership. Back then, you could own a house, a car, and raise a large family on a single income. Reagan destroyed that with his "trickle-down" bullshit, although the Democrats did play a role by embracing NAFTA and becoming Republican Lite in general from 1992 onward.

We really should be talking about a
maximum
wage and reimplementing Republican president Dwight Eisenhower's 90% tax rate on top earners.
But for the record minimum wage was most recently increased in 2009, the last time Democrats controlled the presidency and both chambers of congress.
