when are movie theaters finally going to be back to prominence after covid?

They have been declining rapidly for years. A few major blockbusters make most of the money, but outside of those the industry is struggling. Any increase in box office returns comes from the international market.

Guess you're not keeping up what's happening in the industry and how many theaters have gone out of business. The movie theater of yesteryear is never going to return to any type of prominence.
I guess you AREN'T paying attention. There were no movies for a year. Movies are back and people are going again. Godzilla vs Kong was a big hit for Warner Bros despite the fact that it was also streaming on HBO. A Quiet Place II and Cruella are currently doing quite well at the box office.
By the time Black Widow and Spider-Man open, it's on.
There has never been a billion dollar streaming movie. The money is at the box office.

Turning the corner in the pandemic doesn’t guarantee stability for theaters. Offering luxurious experiences at affordable prices doesn’t mean audiences will show up in droves every week. And knowing that the worst has passed at the box office doesn’t erase uncertainty about its prospects. And theaters are still closing. A couple of low-level hits does not an industry-pumper make.

The audiences are already coming back.
Also, who the freak is going to stay home and stream movies once everyone is vaccinated? It ain't gonna happen. People are sick of being at home. They can't wait to get out again.

And the rainbows are winning. Look at the box office.
I'm all for a different opinion, but the facts simply are not on your side.

so here's the thing though i've heard that streaming is and has been so huge during the pandemic that they had to ask the question at the oscars this year are people going to continue this trend of streaming movies and not go to the theaters or are they going to go back to the theaters?
the person said they are going to go back to the theaters though but when though is the question?
people are still freaking paranoid about getting this disease. you should see my grocery store where i work 90% of the customers still wear a mask even though they are all fully vaccinated. i call them paranoid bc there's no logic behind still wearing a mask after being fully vaccinated. what do you need to be ok with taking your mask off?
people are so sick of being at home the past year that they are out committing violent crimes. violent crimes have gone up like 30% across america in the last year which to me means people are so sick of being at home all the time they all are thinking let's go out and kill someone or hurt someone physically.

i really care about and love what you're saying bc i hate so much how every ****ing movie preview on tv nowadays says in theaters and streaming on hbo. no, movies that just come out should only be in theaters.
there is something timeless, special and precious about the way it always has been with movies that are new. you can only watch them in theaters which gives them a specialness and a rareness.
thank you for making me feel ok about movies coming back to normal at the box office and coming back to normal this year.
