He has really grown up this season. He's more forceful, masculine. All he needs to do now is put a ring on it and keep Joe from dying.

He's matured tremendously since S1. As has Iris which is what makes them a great couple.

I think he has moved beyond that. Sad that is part of his backstory. It's unnecessary.
