My god Ming Na Wen is definitely in my top 10 worst actors list. She has 3 basic facial expressions and sometimes when she is angry and shifting her eyes back and forth it is just creepy. When she was fighting Aida I was hoping that she got tossed off the balcony so we could done with her.
The big black dude is also horrible. Is there some type of weird Hollywood law being applied here? Like for every 5 actors, they now must employ 1 awful actor? Granted both parts are not great for acting but agent May could actually have been a great character except MingNa Wen and her vey shallow acting abilities.
Next show just watch her ridiculous reactions to stuff. And most of the time she looks like she is on the verge of forgetting her lines or something. PLEASE write her out of the show. -

According to my 17 year-old brother, Clark is the worse actor ever.
I tried to force him to watch 'Turn, Turn, Turn' as payment for me giving him my Netflix password and that was one of the reasons he gave for refusing. -

Except that LMD May
died in this week's episode
she didn't die. What they burned in the incinerator was the Radcliffe LMD and the remains of Aida 1.0. There was a scene where I think it was Jemma that comments that Coulson's not ready to destroy the May LMD because - if they can't save real May - then LMD May is all that's left of her
BTW: I sent you some PMs yesterday DFX (just in case you didn't see)

Agent Hill:
Then aliens invaded New York and were beaten back, by among others, a giant green monster, a costumed hero from the 40's. and a god.
Agent Ward:
I don't think Thor is technically a god.

Well if you really feel that way, then you must only seen very few films and television shows. There are many more actors that have zero acting abilities, but continue to find work. I'm not saying this cast is the best, but they are certainly no where near being in a top 10 worst.

Agreednone of this cast is really great, but she'sembarrassing.
It seems they selected actors on the basis of how they look or which kind of acrobatics (for women) they are capable of without regards to their acting skills.

Uh, actors are always cast at least partially on the basis of what they look like. It wouldn't make sense to cast, say, someone who looked like Melissa McCarthy as May, or a guy who looked like Rob Schneider or Wayne Knight as Ward. That doesn't mean that acting ability is disregarded when you're casting major characters that people are going to watch for hours in dramatic and emotional scenes. It wouldn't make sense. You could get away with that with some of the side characters - like, Marc Dacascos mostly just needed to do fights, and the guy who played Creel also didn't need to do much except look terrifying. But the main cast and many of the guest start have had really challenging material - from playing multiple characters to playing different versions of their characters, to playing trauma and mental issues, etc., and they've all been great. I have no idea what your problem with any of them is.

I think you're all completely nuts. She's intentionally playing the character as stoic most of the time, because that's how she's written. When that shell breaks and she's required to be more emotional, the actress absolutely kills it. Notably the stuff with Bahrain, finding out her ex-husband is Lash, etc.
The whole cast is great, both the regulars and the guest stars. -

Agreed. It seems that people just like to complain about characters and then confuse that with actors. Like, if you are playing a stoic, emotionally closed off character, you get branded "wooden", which is nonsense.

I don't know what you're on about. Ming Na-Wen is one of the best actors on the show. It just seems like you have a problem because her character is emotionally closed off (and as far from the real Ming Na-Wen as possible - she's completely different in real life). Not to mention that she's actually played a completely different persona (when May was undercover in early season 2) as well as an actually completely different character with a different personality (Agent 33).

I was just about to say the exact same thing. Melinda May is about as far from Ming Na as she can be, it is laughable. She is a joy to watch on the comic-con stuff. So vivacious and bubbly and fun. I would just love to hang out with her!
I guess some people confuse an actor's ability to follow direction, with not being able to act.
