So, I saw the message today like everyone else, and I figured I would share my story with the board. Dont worry, Ill try to make it quick.
You see, I have this very weird association with these movies (Man of Steel and BvS).
I joined IMDb in 2005, but I never really used the message boardsI would just post once in a blue moon on some random board.
Fast-forward to 2013. It was April, to be exact, and I was about to accomplish one of my ultimate goals. I had been working toward this goal for many years, and I had finally reached it, because at that time I was finally able to quit my job.
I had been working on my own business for around 3 years, and I was finally successful enough to work on my own schedule and be my own boss.
Fast-forward to June 2013. Now, you have to understand that I am not the biggest fan of comic book movies. I dont even really like the Marvel movies. I dont really dislike them either, I guess, theyre just whatever.
BUT I have always been a fan of Batman and Superman since I was a little kid, like most people. And I was excited for Man of Steel. So I went and saw it, and, surprisingly (to me anyway), it was VERY disappointing. I dont hate it, but it wasnt near as good as I thought itd be.
Now, I was a smoker back then. Im still a smoker I guess, but now I vape instead. Anyway, one day during one of my smoke breaks I decided to come here and read the reviews for Man of Steel. Then I went to the message boards, and thats when I met all of you lovely weirdos for the first time.
And since then Ive been coming here during every one of my smoke breaks. In fact, thats the only time I really come here.
So, I will always remember Man of Steel and these boards because I will always associate them with one of the best times in my life, which was accomplishing my ultimate goal and being free from the corporate world (so-to-speak).
And Im not ashamed to say that I will definitely miss these boards. I really dont know what Ill do now during my smoke breaks, because coming here is such an engrained habit of my daily routine. To be honest, I really think its a mistake for IMDb to shut these boards down.
And Im also not ashamed to say that I will definitely miss all of you lovely weirdos. I know most of you probably dont even know me, because I dont post that much, but trust me, Im always around here reading and laughing! And I was so looking forward to seeing what would happen with the coming movies
So, farewell friends, trolls, and idiotsI will miss you all. (I know theres around 2 weeks left, but still)

Again, I will point out how logistically unrealistic that is.
EVERY movie.
From EVERY country.
EVERY TV show
EVERY actor and actress
You are talking about hiring (conservatively) tens of thousands of moderators. -

If they just put an IP filter on the userbase that deleted EVERY account with an identical IP, that would have gone a LONG way to cleaning this place up without needing more manpower And they could have made it so only IMDB pro accounts had forum access $$$ per account would also be a proxy deterrent.
Thanks to Batmeh v Supermeh Yawn of Justice, the "S" now stands for Sidekick -

Cheers bro, I'm sure someone will set up a rally point for everyone to migrate to, that's what usually happens when forums shut down
