Everyone was bad in Godzilla, except Bryan Cranston. You can't really blame Olsen, who has proven herself repeatedly on screen.
And X-Men movies haven't made bad casting decisions? How about two actors who share the last name Jones?

Given his inability to be objective towards these films, I'm sure he thinks Alexandra Shipp and Olivia Munn also gave worthy performances as well. To un-biased eyes though, they were nothing but bland, cardboard cut-outs. Jennifer Lawrence even phoned it in.

Olivia Munn was used exactly as she should be; minimally and with emphasis on her tits. Alexandra Shipp was good, she gave a strong performance and made Halle Berry look amateur in comparison; give the kid a break. Jennifer Lawrence gave a strong, understated performance, she was good too, she never missed a single beat and had great dynamics with all of the other characters, especially James McAvoy, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Evan Peters.
            To un-biased eyes though
Oh YOU'RE unbiased here are ya? You are?!
            That's hilarious dude, funny stuff.

I knew you would praise their performances!
Shipp's performance was pretty much equal to Berry's. She just did it with an accent and a mohawk. Both were amateur performances for very under-written roles.
Look, I can admit that I'm biased to a certain degree. I'm an X-Men fan, just not a fan of the X-Men films. Haven't been since X2. And that does have an effect on my opinion of the franchise and films. But I can still separate my feelings and opinions to be somewhat objective (the MCU films are far from perfect). However, you've got rose-colored Fox-Men goggles that makes you see everything in these films as cinematic gold, which just isn't the case.

I think we're both equally biased on different sides of the scale, but I genuinely do both enjoy these movies and think that they're all around quality productions. Some of them have been amongst the best of the genre.
I do not excuse poor efforts though, like casting January Jones as mentioned above, it's not as if they're incapable of making errors in judgment but I do feel that they've been doing a hell of a good job with these X-Men movies lately, they're really pouring a lot of talent and effort into them and it shows in the quality of the productions.
And lastly like you I'm an old school X-Men fan, the difference is I've been quite happy with both the fan service and the changes made to the traditional/original stories and characters in the movies (with some exceptions).

Talent, yes. Effort, no. Like I said before, they go out of their way to not make the movies about them being X-men. It's like they can't think of a way to make the movies about X-men and have a story that would last 2 hours. Both DoFP and Apocalypse was them starting over so they could make it as minimum as possible.

                    I don't think so.
One of the things that impressed me the most about
                    X-Men Apocalypse
was the juggling, high-wire act of so many characters and giving something to all of them, and having them mesh so well together.
Except Psylocke, I feel she was left out of the circle. Every other character got a good lead-in except for maybe Psylocke. She was Caliban's protector and agent/enforcer but she could have used the same fleshing out that all of the other characters in this movie got.

Yeah! I'd say that one little random clip from

is better than anything I've seen in a Disney Marvel movie yet.

Depends on how ashamed you are of comic books.
