We're seeing women in more powerful positions in Hollywood. Not just directors and producers but the heads of studios too. Also it's what the public wants. The majority of viewers are women and they want to see better representation and they're starting to get it. Finally!
Yes, we are and it is about time.
There have been a number of successful female authors and comic book writers over the years who write Action, Thriller and Horror novels that go on to become number 1 best sellers but we are only seeing more female writers, producers and directors making action movies now and while sexist males continue to push the outdated belief that Action is a genre for men and Romance is a genre for women statistics prove otherwise. There are a lot of female comic book readers who want to see their favourite female superheroes finally get their chance to shine on the screen and after dozens of movies based on comic books with male leads it is only fair. I was reading an article about superhero movies the other day that said there have been more than five times as many movies based on comic books with male leads that have flopped than there has been of female superhero movies and that isn't surprising and if they were to look at that the same way they do as female heroes then they would have stopped making superhero movies years ago.
All we need is for a few movies to be successful and sexist executives will no longer be able to blame a superhero movie flopping on it having a female lead and the creators of those movies will rightfully get the blame like they should have with Supergirl, Elektra and Catwoman. I agree with you about Smallville's version of Supergirl being the best on screen adaption to date and I think the same could be said about Smallville's version of the Black Canary who was far more like her comic book counterpart than the version we have seen in Arrow and better written than the poor version we saw in the awful adaption of the Birds of Prey but the movies need to aim higher and go for the best. The funny thing about the Man of Steel movie is it borrowed a lot of the dark elements from the Supergirl comic books as you know just like Injustice: Gods Among Us also borrowed from Supergirl with an evil version of Superman and the creators of that even said Supergirl: Candor was one of their inspirations. I think the New 52 version of Supergirl would be best fitted for the movie universe but I would love to see Linda.
I like your idea for having Kara and Linda merge and some Supergirl fans have suggested on other sites instead of having Linda merge with the Matrix they could have her merge with the ghost of Kara to become Supergirl. Linda is very different than any female character we have ever seen in a superhero movie before and using Linda over Kara would definitely make Superman and Supergirl stand apart with their different personalities and superpowers and I would even suggest they use the white Supergirl costume over the blue one 'cause I always liked that one more and I even bought that online. I am looking forward to the Man of Steel 2 movie 'cause I am interested in what characters and villains are going to be in it and since they killed off Jimmy Olsen in Dawn of Justice I think they should introduce Chloe. If you read some of the older interviews with the creators of Man of Steel there was talk about using Chloe in the movies as Clark's childhood best friend and the addition of Chloe would be good for Lois since she doesn't seem to have many people she is close to in the movies and her cousin could fill up that spot.
Batman has been around for 20 years according to Dawn of Justice so it would be easy to have an already established Batgirl and Nightwing. I too agree they would be on the outs with Batman since he wants to work alone and has become more ruthless.
Yeah. I think that is the best way to introduce them and explain their absence in Dawn of Justice and I think they should have Batgirl and Nightwing appear in the solo Batman movie and go their separate ways again on happier terms at the end and the next 2 movies could introduce Tim Drake as Red Robin and Stephanie Browne as the Spoiler as his new team. Even though I would love to see all of the Bat Family characters finally appear in movies I think it is unlikely we will get them all in the new movies but Red Robin and the Spoiler replacing Batgirl and Nightwing would be easy to do and they could even play out the relationship between Tim and Stephanie in the movies with Batman worrying it is going to get in the way of them working together as a team. It will be interesting to see if Batgirl and Nightwing debut in the solo Batman movie or their own movies (Birds of Prey and Titans) first and with Batman being pushed back and the Birds of Prey/Harley Quinn movie being pushed forward and talk of Titans replacing Cyborg it looks like Batgirl and Nightwing will debut in separate movies which is something I suspect a lot of fans never thou -

Have you seen the latest news about Painkiller Jane? Not only is Jessica Chastain staring in it but she is also producing the movie. It has been reported that Margot Robbie will be producing the Harley Quinn/ Birds of Prey movie too and it will be interesting to see how these movies turn out with the actresses producing them.

No, I haven't seen the latest news about Painkiller Jane. Come to think of it I don't think I've seen any news about it since Jessica was cast.
It is neat these women are producing the film, it shows they are really invested in the films and their success.
IIRC, Margot was disappointed with the costume in Suicide Squad because she wanted to wear the classic Harley Quinn costume. I wonder if her being a producer will mean Harley will be wearing a different costume in her movie?

Yes. It does and that is what they are going to need if they want those movies to be successful 'cause past studios showed with the examples I listed above they were not really that invested in the movies at all and Catwoman looked like something they had to make 'cause they promised a Catwoman movie with Michelle Pfieffer before and couldn't go through with it. I am interested in what actresses they are going to use to play the Birds of Prey and Avengelyne and when they were talking about making the Avengelyne movie before they had former MMA figher Gina Carano set to play the role but she is no longer attached to the project and they are going with a new actress. Whatever actresses get the roles need to be believable and should be able to do most of their own stunts in the movies. There were rumours about WWE Superstar, Charlotte (Flair) being looked at for the role of the Black Canary but I wouldn't believe anything with the castings until they are official 'cause some sites were saying Yvonne Strahovski was set in stone to play Captain Marvel and that turned out to be wrong.
What I would love to see turned into movies or a TV series is the Makedde Vanderwall series by Tara Moss. Fetish, Split, Covet, Hit and Siren are some of my favourite novels of all time and if you haven't read any of them you should really check them out 'cause they would make awesome Action/Thriller movies. I would go as far to say there haven't been many female lead action movies or action movies in general as good as the Makedde Vanderwall series and Tara Moss has said she has been in talks with some studios in America to have Fetish turned into a movie.
IIRC, Margot was disappointed with the costume in Suicide Squad because she wanted to wear the classic Harley Quinn costume. I wonder if her being a producer will mean Harley will be wearing a different costume in her movie?
I am interested in this too and some sites were saying she was going to go with the Harley Quinn costume from Arkham Asylum but they turned out to be wrong. Speaking of Arkham Asylum did you hear Warner Bros. Montreal are working on a new Batman game? I hope it is Arkham Origins 2.

Following the development of superhero films can be frustrating as Hell. Directors, actors, scripts, come and go. projects begin production only to get cancelled. Catwoman is a great example of how weird development can take, especially the more years pass between the initial idea and release. Then there are all the failed Superman films between Superman IV and Superman Returns and the failed Batman films between Batman and Robin and Batman Begins.
Everything is changing all the time and there are so many rumors true it makes it impossible to know what is going on or what is real.
We need more female action films, so the more the merrier! Bring on Fetish!
Haven't heard that rumor before. Interesting. Arkham Origins was a good idea but a flawed execution. Hopefully they learned from their mistakes and make a great game.

Yes. It is and I have seen a lot of superhero movies and TV shows in development over the years that have been given the green light and scrapped at the last minute and I heard there were a few people trying to make a Green Arrow TV show in the 90s and early 00s that got turned down 'cause they didn't think he was well known enough and it wasn't until they had the Green Arrow in Smallville that changed. The amount of female superhero movies that were announced to be in development that were turned down by studios 'cause they who didn't even read the scripts 'cause they saw female heroes as a joke has been absolutely pathetic to say the least from the Batgirl 1970s TV show with Yvonne Craig to Batgirl, Supergirl (Kara and Linda), Raven, Red Sonja, The Huntress, Zatanna, Starfire, Darkchylde, Witchblade, Aphrodite IX, Magdalena, Shanna the Shedevil etc and many of them didn't even bother reading the script and some of those were written by actual comic book writers working at DC. The Supergirl/ Linda Danvers movie that didn't go through that had Alicia Silverstone attached to it was the biggest mistake in my opinion since it was being written by Peter David and Tim Burton was attached to it at one point and that could have been really good.
There were a lot of failed Batman and Superman movie between the movies you mentioned and I remember a lot about them and people were really sure Superman Lives with Nicholas Cage was going to go through and there were magazines and newspapers talking about it and saying it was going to be a big hit and then it just disappeared and I never understood why they didn't go through with that movie especially when you look at what happened with Superman Returns. Superman Lives could have been more successful than Returns but after Lois and Clark I think they should have made a Superman movie with Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher 'cause Dean Cain could have been great as Superman in a movie. Lois and Clark is still one of the most popular superhero TV shows in history and the ratings the show got in its first two seasons were like 10 times the ratings Arrow is getting and it was one of the most watched shows on TV here and that was during a time where it had a lot of competition.
Everything is changing all the time and there are so many rumors true it makes it impossible to know what is going on or what is real.
Thankfully it is and we are seeing movies based on comic books with female leads in development than ever before and more movies being talked about by Warner Bros. With the amont of female superheroes that have their own comic book series it is going to be interesting to see which ones they adapt after the Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn/ Birds of Prey, Painkiller Jane, Avengelyne and Captain Marvel movies and I would love to see a Spider-Woman movie and if Sam Rami had continued making the Spider-Man movies we would have got one and Anne Hathaway was originally in talks to play Black Cat in Spider-Man 4. With the way Marvel are with female superheroes though I think we will be lucky if the Captain Marvel movie ever goes through and I have much more faith DC, Image Comics and Dynamite Entertainment especially with Painkiller Jane. Speaking of Painkiller Jane Jimmy Palmiotti (the creator) has spoken out about the upcoming movie and you might be interested in reading this interview with him.

There were rumours earlier this year that Warner Bros. Montreal were working on a new Arkham game or an Arkham Origins 2 and a lot of people wrongly assumed it was the Arkham VR game but many sites are saying they are working on one now and it is not known what the game will be yet. I liked Arkham Origins. I know some people didn't think it was as good as the other games but I liked the addition of New Gotham and being able to go back to Old Gotham and see how different it was from Arkham City. I also liked the Christmas theme of the game and one of the things I was disappointed over with Arkham Knight was you couldn't go back to all those areas and see what they looked like now 'cause when they first announced Arkham Knight they said people would be able to play the entire Gotham City but all you can do is look across at the old areas. Arkham Knight in my opinion wasn't as good as Origins and even though I liked the Batmobile I thought the game was too dependent on it and it lacked a lot of the good fights Arkham Origins ha -

Speaking of Batgirl and equality I found this and thought you would enjoy it!
Kevin Smith wants to make an animated movie based on his Superman Lives script.
Can you blame Palmiotti being excited? Jessica Chastain is a fantastic choice! I'm curious if the Soska Sisters are still attached to direct. They were two years ago, but that is a long time in Hollywood and anything could happen.
Be a shame if they're not because they are fantastic directors and I think would be perfect for this film.
I was kinda disappointed with Origins but I don't hate it. Haven't played Knight yet, though I know some are disappointed with it. The Batmobile seems to be the biggest complaint, which is a sign you messed up if you make people hate the Batmobile!

Thank you for sharing that.

I didn't know about that but it sounds interesting.
I wonder how the film based on Peter David's Supergirl would have worked. The Supergirl who merged with Linda Danvers had a somewhat convoluted backstory and it would need to be stream-lined for a movie. Alicia Silverstone would make a great Supergirl. Part of me wants Liv Tyler to play Linda.
I have been thinking about that myself. I think they might have dropped the whole Matrix storyline and just had Linda become the Earth Born Angel of Fire with the white Supergirl costume and the blonde wig from the start 'cause a lot of people say the Matrix storyline would be difficult to adapt but Linda becoming the Earth Born Angel like the did midway through the series when the Matrix left and she become the main Supergirl would have been easier to do. They could have had the angels save her when Buzz killed her and tried to sacrifice her to a demon and they could have given her a a second chance to redeem herself and be a superhero. From what I remember hearing about the movie it was going to be more of a Horror movie than a superhero movie and would have probably been something along the lines of the Resident Evil and Underworld movies and had the same tone as Fallen Angel with Buzz, Lilith, Carnivore, Balazebub, Blithe, Comet and Twilight appearing in it.
Linda getting powers and becoming Supergirl could have been done in a number of different ways and they could have even had her near Superman when he was hit by lightning and had some of his powers transferred to her but one of the thing many fans loved about Linda Danvers and Peter David, himself was proud of was Linda had her own powers different from Superman such as the ability to shapeshift, heal people, teleport, surround herself with fire and wipe out multiple demons, shoot out blue blasts from her hands and see the last few seconds of a persons life by looking into their eyes. When those were merged towards the end when Linda was in her late 20s and Peter David wanted to rename her Superwoman Linda was said to be the most powerful being on earth and Kara was scared of her when she first met her 'cause of how powerful she was. Linda could easily be added in the DC Movie Universe now if Warner Bros were willing to work with Peter David but her powers alone would probably have a lot of sexist guys whinging over how powerful she is and claiming evil feminists were taking over their movies like they have been with Wonder Woman even though Wonder Woman was around decades before they were even born.
With Supergirl in the DC Movie Universe I think she is most likely going to be introduced in Man of Steel 2 like one of the people working at Warner Bros said they were originally planning depending on the success of Wonder Woman and it will most likely be Kara over Linda Danvers sadly but I think we will definitely be getting a darker, edgier and more powerful version closer to most versions of Kara we have seen over the past since they brought back the character in 2004 than the version of Kara in the Supergirl TV show which is what a lot of Supergirl fans I know have been waiting to see. The crossover episodes definitely showed one of the main problems with this version of Supergirl we are seeing and I want to see the Supergirl that burned aliens and monsters into dust with her heat vision. Alicia Silverstone could have been a good choice and I heard Sarah Michelle Gellar and Monica Potter were also strong contenders for the role. Speaking of Supergirl did you know they added Supergirl Book Three by Peter David to Amazon? I have book one now and Book Two is on pre-order and to release the Linda Danvers series in full I think it will have around 15-16 graphic novels 'cause of how long it went for. I love having them in graphic novel form.

I thought you would like that.
Part of me thinks an animated Superman Lives should be done in the style of The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride as a nod to Tim Burton.
There are so many ways they can handle Linda, but I'm afraid they won't do anything with her and use Kara instead. Surprised DC is still publishing Linda trades as they are upset with Peter David and been acting like the character doesn't exist.
Then again DC has been surprising us by publishing just about everything. Last month they published a trade with the first appearance of Matrix and in April they published Invasion, the event that inspired the CW crossover, both for the very first time.
I haven't seen the SyFy series. I have no idea what is on the network as I haven't paid attention to it for over a decade. Have I missed much?

Part of me thinks an animated Superman Lives should be done in the style of The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride as a nod to Tim Burton.
That would be interesting to see. I have actually been watching a few animated DC movies they have recently added to the Foxtel download and I downloaded Assault on Arkham and Batman vs Robin to watch sometime later this week and I was going to order Batman vs Robin on Amazon after I got Bad Blood but I always forgot to order it when I was making orders and now I can watch it for free which is better since some movies I have brought before have turned out to be disappointing. I have heard a lot of good things about Assault on Arkham online and it is supposed to be connected to the video games and takes place before Arkham Asylum but I havent heard much about Batman vs Robin and I could be wrong but I think it is a sequel to Son of the Batman and has Damian Wayne as Robin.
I liked Batman: Bad Blood and Under the Red Hood and I would love to see Warner Bros make movie adaptions of those and according to some of the rumours (earlier this year) the Under the Red Hood storyline was going to be the main inspiration for the first new solo Batman movie but that has since turned out to be untrue and sites are now claiming it is going to be loosely based on Arkham Asylum (the Graphic Novel) and so we will have to wait and see. I would like to see an animated movie series based on the Arkham games with a new movie in between Arkham Origins and Arkham Asylum with Barbara becoming Batgirl and the introduction of Dick Grayson as Robin cause with some changes I think the Arkham games would really work well as animated movies or live action movies especially Arkham Asylum and City and that would give them a chance to use a lot of different villains.
I wasnt a fan of the animated movie of the Killing Joke but I was never a fan of the comics cause DC used it in the late 80s to cripple one of the top three most popular female superheroes cause of her gender and didnt care about female comic book fans at the time but that has since been fixed and a lot of female comic book writers have described what DC did to Barbara as an example of the sexism in the comic book industry at the time which is starting to die out now. There have, however, been a few rumours about animated movies of Death In the Family and Death of the Family and I would like to see a movie an animated or live action movie of Death of the Family cause that is one of my favourite Bat Family storylines and the writers would be able to fix Batgirl up with an older, darker and more experienced Barbara Gordon becoming Batgirl again after being wheelchair bound and haunted by nightmares.
Batgirl and the Birds of Prey, of course are going to debut in the live action Harley Quinn movie but it is still possible for Warner Bros to play out that storyline in a live action movie and I would love to see them play out Eternal in a movie with the Spoiler and Bluebird. Speaking of Batgirl, have you been reading the Batgirl Beyond and Batgirl and the Birds of Prey Rebirth series? I have heard the Harley Quinn/Birds of Prey movie is going to take from the Rebirth series but I assume the characters will be older like they were in the New 52 based on Batman's age. DC have announced they are going to release a collection of the Stephanie Brown/Batgirl comic book series and you can pre-order that on Amazon now. Barbara Gordon is my favourite Batgirl but I love Stephanie Brown (especially as the Spoiler) and I am hoping we get the solo Spoiler series they were talking about earlier in the year.
https://www.amazon.com/Batgirl-Stephanie-Brown-Vol-1/dp/1401269109/ref=sr_1_1_twi_pap_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1481024917&sr=1-1&keywords=batgirl

I think it is 'cause it is the biggest selling and longest running series of Supergirl in history. Regardless of Geoff's falling out with Peter David DC still acknowledge that Linda was more popular than Kara and Geoff Johns said in a recent interview Linda was not dead in the Rebirth series and they planned to use her again in the future but had to work out a way to bring her back. I think she won't be Supergirl again and will most likely go by a new superhero name but it will continue off the Supergirl series. They had the chance to do that with Fallen Angel and Peter David originally planned to reveal Liandra as Linda Danvers/Supergirl but DC wouldn't let him to do it under IDW. I think Peter David has made a deal with DC to re-release the series as graphic novels 'cause he knows a lot of fans want it all rereleased in graphic novel form but I don't think he would work on a Linda Danvers/Supergirl movie with them now unless Geoff and Peter made up which is pos -

I've seen most of the animated DC movies and found them to be better then C's live action movies. Sometimes I wish the people in charge of the animated films would work on the live films. Then DC can really give Marvel a run for their money!
I saw Assault on Arkham and if you compare it to Suicide Squad you can see how that film, while enjoyable, could have been so much better! Haven't seen Batman Vs. Robin yet. Assault on Arkahm is set in the same universe as the Arkham games and takes place after Arkham Origins. Batman Vs. Robin is a sequel to Son of the Batman.
Haven't seen Bad Blood. Apparently it's a sequel to Batman Vs. Robin. Apparently Morena Baccarin is in it as Talia al Ghul. Huh. That's funny considering she plays Leslie Thompkins on Gotham. More movies set in the Arkham-verse would be great! I think the designs are the best we've seen, especially Batman's uniform.
Not a lot of people were fans of The Killing Joke movie. Barbara and Bruce having sex really upset a lot of people. Haven't seen it yet and am debating whether I should. Things are improving for female superheroes. Female reader demand better representation and female writers like Gail Simone have made major strides from within. A Death in the Family would be a good follow-up to The Killing Joke.
Yeah there is so much about the live-action Batman we don't know. All we do know is Batman has been around for 20 years and The Joker killed Robin. So much story potential. I feel like a kid at Christmas! In the Birds of Prey movie should Barbara be Oracle or Batgirl? I would much rather have her in the field as Batgirl instead of in a wheelchair as Oracle. I didn't realize they were publishing stories with Stephanie Brown as Batgirl! Thank you for sharing that with me.
Guess we'll have to wait and see what they do with Supergirl and who see will be. But I have seen the impossible and the unexpected happen enough times to know any can go!
I've missed on shows from a lot of networks like A&E, AMC, IFC, Nickelodeon, and the Disney Channel. I have a lot of catching up to do. Since I like you so much I'll start with SyFy.

I agree. Most of the DC movies and the Arkham games were better than all of the DC and Marvel movies of the past decade in my opinion and I think a big part of that had to do with the writers like you. I don't know about the DC movies but the Arkham Asylum and Arkham City games were written by Paul Dini and I think he would write a better movie than most of the writers have so far and with Under the Red Hood I am surprised they made an animated movie of it and not a live action movie 'cause if they had made a few slight changes I think it could have easily worked as a live action movie and would have been better than any of the Christopher Nolan Batman movies we got. The problem with DC is Warner Bros won't let the DC writers write the live action movie and they prefer to hire writers who aren't experienced with the characters to write movies. The same can be said about some of the DC TV shows and the horrible adaption of Birds of Prey would have been SO much better if they had let Gail Simone write it over people who never even read the comics until after the show got cancelled.
I have seen Suicide Squad and that was just released here this week on DVD and was added to Foxtel's new movies section and I don't think it was as bad as some people are making out it was but their version of Killer Croc was very disappointing and I am hoping they use him again in his 13 foot 800 pounds from and what we saw in that movie was Waylon Jones in the early stages of his transformation. I don't think Killer Croc was a good choice of character to put with the Suicide Squad 'cause he is a villain that works better on his own and is known for eating people and tearing them apart. Killer Croc could easily be the main villain of a Batman movie with Waylon starting out as a mob boss with a skin condition that slowly becomes more crocodile throughout the movie and eats all the people who fail him until he finally has a big face off with Batman at the end in his fully evolved form. Killer Croc is the perfect Horror movie monster character and should be treated as one and not a regular villain.
After watching Assault on Arkham last night I think it was definitely the better movie and it made me want an Arkham Origins 2 even more 'cause there are so many characters in between Origins and Arkham Asylum whose origins haven't been explained and I would have liked to have seen when Dr Harleen become Harley Quinn and when Harvey Dent become Two Face. With a new game on the way even if it is not Arkham Origins maybe they might make some more animated movies set in the Arkham universe and they could have one where Barbara becomes Batgirl and Dick Grayson debuts as Robin. I liked the graphics in the Arkham games and I am surprised they didn't use them to make Assault On Arkham 'cause they look way more realistic to me than the animated movies but maybe they are too expensive to use for movies. I think the Suicide Squad movie would have been better if they had used the same characters in Assault on Arkham too with the addition of Deathstroke but there are rumour saying Deathstroke and more characters are going to be in Suicide Squad too so we will have to wait and see.
Deathstroke is also rumoured to be one of the main villains in the new solo Batman movie too and out of all the upcoming DC/Warner Bros movies I am looking forward to seeing Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn/ Birds of Prey, The Batman and Man of Steel 2 the most and I hope they speed up the Titans movie 'cause a Titans movie is long overdue and I think Titans should have had a movie before Suicide Squad. Batman: Bad Blood was a good movie and you should watch that one if you haven't seen it yet and have free time. It had Yvonne Strahovski playing Kate Kane/ Batwoman and unless I have overlooked a movie I think it was the first time Batwoman has appeared in an animated movie and it was definitely the first time she has had a female love interest in an animated movie they didn't shy away from showing. I am hoping we get another animated movie or live action movie with Batwoman in it and with the popularity of the character in Rebirth which has lead to her getting a new solo series next year there has been talk of it and with all the complaints over Alex in Supergirl I am sure it is going to get a lot from homophobes and will probably get similar hate to what Lost Girl got for having a Bisexual lead. If you think they are bad with side characters they have a REALLY hard time dealing with bisexual or homosexual leads.
Not a lot of people were fans of The Killing Joke movie. Barbara and Bruce having sex really upset a lot of people. Haven't seen it yet and am debating whether I should. Things are improving for female superheroes. Female reader deman -

Yeah knowing and respecting the source material can make a big difference. Though sometimes you can love a character and the film still turn out bad. Like Joel Schumacher with Batman and Robin or Bryan Singer with Superman Returns. And the DC Animated guys aren't perfect, just look at their Killing Joke to see that!
Speaking of the animated films did you know there is a Justice League Vs. Teen Titans movie and next year we're getting Teen Titans: The Judas Contract? I'm really exicted about that last one. I haven't read the comic but I know it's one of the best comic stories of all time.
Yeah Joe Manganiello will be playing Deathstroke in The Batman. Armie Hammer might be in it too. Nothing has been announced but Joe has been trolling twitter with hints.
There was an animated film set in the universe of Batman the Animated series called The Mystery of Batwoman. That had Kathy Duquesne because DC didn't want to use Kathy Kane in a family friendly movie due to the violence associated with her.
I am going to read the Batwoman comics next year. Sometime after I get done reading the Birds of Prey and Batgirl comics. Not sure if that will be before or after Teen Titans though. Then I'm going to read Nightwing comics and finish with Batman.
I'm also going to be checking out the TV shows Lost Girl and Wynonna Earp too.
As to the complaints of homophobes? EFF 'em. If they're upset then we're doing something right.
I really like Stephanie Brown. I'm glad her Batgirl comics are getting published. It will be fun checking those out. DC has been putting out a lot of stuff from the 80s and 90s. So this is a pretty exciting time for a DC fan!

Yes. It can and with Joel Schumacher I actually didn't mind Batman Forever and I liked it more than Batman and Batman Returns. A lot of people who put down that movie now forget how popular it was when it came out and that it was one of the most successful movies of the 90s but Batman and Robin was terrible 'cause they made it too light and comical. I think Schumacher was trying to attract a younger audience by making it lighter and more like Adam West's Batman but I still think he should have gone with Batman: Triumphant over Batman & Robin and if he had I don't think the 90s Batman series would have been restarted. I liked Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy and even though Alicia Silverstone was a horrible choice to play Barbara she did look kinda sexy as Batgirl (and would have been better as Supergirl) so that is two good things I will say about the film but apart from that there were a lot of problems with Batman vs Robin. George Clooney was not a good choice to play Batman and a lot of people didn't like Arnold Schwarzenegger's version of Mr Freeze. I can't remember if I told you the funny thing about Arnold was he was their choice for Batman and they only went with George Clooney 'cause Arnold wanted to play a villain for a change so they gave him the role of Mr Freeze.
Superman Returns wasn't bad and in comparison to Superman 3 and 4 I think it was the best movie out of the 3 but for many people (Critics especially) it was too light and shouldn't have continued off the Christopher Reeve movies which goes to show how different critics were back then 'cause the main complaint about Man of Steel was it was too dark and not light enough when a lot of them were saying Superman Returns should have been like Batman Begins and Superman wasn't edgy enough and was outdated. I remember hearing Superman Returns was originally going to be part of a trilogy and there was a lot of talk about the sequel online and in magazines around the time the movie come out but it wasn't as well-received as they were hoping it would be so it was scrapped. One of the problems with Superman Returns in my opinion was it was made too many years later to be a sequel to the Christopher Reeve movies and while it was classed as one by some people there were too many continuity errors for it to take place after Superman 4 and if you watch 4 and then Returns you can see them. Lois and Jimmy should have been older too for it to take place all those years later which they weren't.
I think it would have been better if they had made a Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher movie instead 'cause more people were familiar with Dean Cain as Superman than Christopher Reeve at the time 'cause it was more recent and I remember most of my friends were pointing out the differences between Superman Returns and Lois and Clark and didn't understand why Perry and Jimmy were so different and why Lois didn't already know he was Superman. A Superman movie with Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher could have been so much better and they already had the leftover script from what was going to be the fifth season with Supergirl, Lana and Braniac joining and they could have partly used that. Dean Cain will always be the best Superman to me and he was very good looking (heehee) and I say that as somebody who prefers women over men.
Plus with Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman having access to all of the characters and villains Warner that Bros wouldn't let them use it would have been interesting to have seen what they would have done with them in movies and Warner Bros stopped the show from being ever better blocking them.
Speaking of the animated films did you know there is a Justice League Vs. Teen Titans movie and next year we're getting Teen Titans: The Judas Contract? I'm really exicted about that last one. I haven't read the comic but I know it's one of the best comic stories of all time.
I did hear about the Justice League vs Teen Titans and I haven't seen that one yet but I have been meaning to get around to it. Do you know what characters were in it and if it was any good? I haven't heard about the Teen Titans: The Judas Contract animated movie but that sounds interesting and I am going to get it when it comes out on DVD next year. I am surprised DC has never tried to make animated movies of their big crossover events like Crisis on Infinite Earth, Identity Crisis, Genesis, Infinite Crisis, Future's End, A Death Of the Family and Batman Eternal 'cause that would allow them to have a lot of different superheroes in them.

I think Batman Forever was the most successful of the Burton-Schumacher films, so a lot of people like it. Batman Returns is a very nihilistic film that gives us the perfect actor fro the Penguin then botches his character. I think Batman and Robin turned everything in Batman Forever to 11 and added more characters then it needed and actors who played their roles far more seriously then was needed. Say what you will about casting Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze, at least he knew the film was a comedy and went all out with his performance. Which is more then can be said with George Clooney's very bland Batman.
Very few films are bad when compared to Superman 3 and 4.
A lot of people didn't like that the film never explained why Superman left and was gone for so long. They also didn't like him spying on Lois and essentially being a dead-beat dad. Myself I didn't like the costume, it did no justice to Brandon Routh's physique and the desaturization of color, which is a trend that is being used in the DCEU. And it needs to stop!
I remember a lot of people on-line wanted Tom Welling as Superman. Been interesting if they had, continuing where Season 5 of Smallville ended. This actually could have been a good thing for the show. They could still do the TV series and have the movies for big events, like Doomsday.
I haven't seen Justice League Vs. Teen Titans yet but a quick search finds the Titans consist of Robin (Damian Wayne), Starfire, Raven, Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes), and Beast Boy. Cyborg is on the JLA but he hangs out with the Titans and Nightwing appears too. At the end of the film we see Terra heading towards Titans Tower. Reviews for it are mixed to good.
Mask of the Phantasm is not a good movie. It is a great movie! It's the best Batman movie to date. Go out and watch it now. I'll wait.
I never really got into Batman Beyond. I might try it again sometime in the future. But I would have watched a show with Batgirl and Nightwing! They're two of my favorite characters and it would be nice to see them get out from the shadow of the Bat.
Yeah I'm planning on reading the New 52 and Rebirth trades. Might hunt down Kevin Smith's run on Green Arrow as well as Green Arrow and Black Canary. Toss in the novels I want to read this year, I got a full plate. Luckily I am a fast reader. I was unaware of a new Vampirella series. So there's one more thing to look out for!
Well you haven't steered me wrong so far!
We do seem to have similar tastes so if you like it I'm sure I will too.
Amazon sells a wide variety of adult toys for just that very purpose!

Yes. I think it was the most successful out of all the films too and I remember how popular it was when it came out in 1995 here. The soundtrack was also popular and Seal's 'A Kiss From A Rose' and U2's 'Hold Me, Kiss Me, Thrill' were big hits on the radio but U2's music video was kinda confusing 'cause it had the Joker in it who wasn't in Batman Forever and I think they filmed their music video without knowing what villains were going to be used in the movie. Batman and Robin had some good ideas with Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy and Bane as the villains along with the addition of Batgirl but they were poorly handled and executed and you are right about there being too many of them in one movie. I think Me Freeze and Poison Ivy could work in a movie but Bane should have been held off and used as his own villain instead of just as a Henchman. I wasn't particularly a fan of the Bane in the 'Dark Knight Rises' either 'cause the actor was too short and Bane isn't Bane without the venom to me and it is like having a movie of Superman where he doesn't have any powers. The venom is a big part of the character and always was and he was supposed to be a highly intelligent scientist that created the venom (and T1/Titan in the Arkham games) but we didn't see that with him in Batman and Robin or the Dark Knight Rises and instead we got something more like a secondary version of Ra's ul Gul.
George Clooney was very bland and I think there were better actors at the time that could have played him and I never understood why they couldn't just get Val Kilmer back 'cause he later said in an interview he would have played the role again if they had offered it to him and he didn't find out they were making another Batman movie or he had been replaced by George Clooney until one of his friends told him about it. Sylvester Stallone seems like somebody who could have been good for the role but perhaps he turned them down like Jean Claude Van Dame and Steven Segal did. Those two could have been interesting as Batman 'cause they could actually fight and I feel we haven't really seen an on screen version of Batman that is as good as fighting as he is portrayed to be in the comics and the closest we have got was Batman in the Arkham games. We might get to see that in Ben Affleck's new movie and I hope we get to see him make good use of all his gadgets like the the Batclaw, remote batarang and the advanced grapple accelerator and it would be fun to see him glide around Gotham City with his cape like he does in Arkham City, Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight.
Very few films are bad when compared to Superman 3 and 4.
No. They aren't but at least they were better than Killjoy and some of the other really bad Horror movies I have seen like the Evil Bong, The Way of the Vampire, My Little Eye, Head of the House, Succubus and the Silent Night, Deadly Night and later Hellraiser movies. Some of them were so bad I couldn't last half the way through them and many people say you need to be stoned yourself to enjoy the Evil Bong movies.
When I hear people say Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice was the worst movie of all time I laugh 'cause I have seen far worse movies and movies that have made huge mistakes like had hands that come out of nowhere and pass people swords in the middle of a fight, visible cameraman walking around in the background, cars in movies based in the 1800s, people picking their noses and eating it in crowds and vampires who have reflections. There are some awful, awful movies out there and I got a few of them in Horror collections with other movies and I think it explains why they were so cheap now 'cause there were one or two good movies in them and the other 8 movies were horrible.
I don't know if you watched the Bonus Features for Superman Returns but it shows them discovering Brandon Routh for the role and he had to wear a muscle suit underneath the Superman costume 'cause he wasn't very muscular at the time and it wasn't until he did Chuck he started spending more time in a gym. I don't think Brandon was a bad choice for Superman though and I blame the writers for the problems in the movie and a good Superman could have worked with Brandon Routh as the lead. Tom Welling could have been good as Superman in a movie and I would love to see a movie of Smallville based on the comic books but Tom Welling said in multiple interviews he didn't want to wear the Superman suit and that was one of the reasons we only got to see him wearing it from afar in the final episode of Smallville. Tom Welling said the only way he would have wore the suit was if they had made some major changes 'cause he thought the underwear on the outside looked funny. I don't think he was much of a superhero or comic book fan in real life but funny enough Michael Shannon was and I heard he was a huge fan of Superman and originally auditioned to play Clark instead of Lex but he got the role of Lex when they cast Tom Welling.
Thanks for telling me about Justice Le -

I had the album for Batman Forever. I really loved the song by U2. I hadn't seen the video in 20 years so I went to YouTube. There's two versions of the video. One was re-edited by a fan to include clips from The Dark Knight. There was an incomplete version which had clips from Batman Forever and an animated Jim Carrey Riddler. I'm not 100% certain because I can not find a complete version of the original video.
Heck not only was Bane too short in The Dark Knight Rises he was the wrong ethnicity. In the comics he's Hispanic but they turned him white for the movie! I swear Bane's look was influenced by the luchadors of Mexico, like the legendary El Santo.

I hate to nitpick but Bane didn't invent Venom. You can read about the drugs origins in Batman: Venom. Bane's origins are in Batman: Vengeance Of Bane. But Bane was incredibly smart in the comics and his own villain, not a lackey of anyone else. He did work with Ra's al Ghul for awhile but as a partner, thinking he was going to become his heir and marry Talia.
I don't think Joel Schumacher got a long with Val Kilmer. I heard he has a reputation for being difficult. Which is a shame because I did like him as Batman. Did you know in the 70s Stallone was considered for the role of Superman? So was Arnold Schwarzenegger! Thank God Richard Donner fought for Christopher Reeve. I have a hard time seeing Segal as Batman. Van Damme would be cool but his accent might make things hard. I always wanted him to play Captain America villain Batroc the Leaper. CHristain Bale's Batman could fight but the fight choregraphy was a mess. Ben Affleck's a very physical Batman and his technique reminds me a lot of the Arkham games. Maybe they'll borrow some more from the Arkham games and have Batman using more gadgets.
I laugh when people say a blockbuster is the worst filma ever made because I have seen some incredibly bad films. Like Plan Nine from Outer Space, Manos the Hands of Fate, and the Beast of Yucca Flats. If you never heard of them you are lucky! I do feel sorry you saw Way of the Vampire.
I don't know why they didn't let Routh work out. Other comic book films have. Heck, Christopher Reeve had a swimmers body and had to beef up for Superman. So they had him train under David Prowse, the man who worse the Darth Vader costume in Star Wars! Did you know the reason we only saw Superman from a distance in Smallville was because they used a CGI body with Tom Welling's head on it! The only time he wore the costume was just the top and it was for the very last shot of the show. He might not have been a comic fan but he played the Hell out of the role! Michael Rosenbaum got the right role though because he was a phenomenal Lex!
You're welcome! Mask of the Phantasm stars the cast of the animated series, so it has Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamil. I knew you love Nightwing and Batgirl. I really think they are long overdue for their own series or movie. Yeah the rights to the Monolith reverted back to Palmiotti in 2013, so it is no longer a DC property. I hadn't heard of Power Girl: Power Trip before so I looked it up. Discovered a Starfire comic by Jimmy Palmiotti.
So that's a couple more to the read pile! You are quite the corrupting influence, young lady! Just kidding.
Remember I sad the homophobes can go eff themselves and you said not literally? Well I was just pointing out how they can quite literally do that!

I didn't know there were two versions of the music video. The only version that aired here on Channel V, Video Hits and Rage was the version I told you about and that still airs on some channels here like Music Max when they have countdowns for the greatest songs from movies along with 'A Kiss From A Rose.' I have the soundtrack for Batman Forever too and I haven't played it for a while but I remember there being a song by PJ Harvey on it I liked too. Both 'A Kiss From A Rose' and 'Hold Me, Kiss Me, Thrill Me' were insanely popular here though and I think the first one was one of the most played songs of the year and was a number one hit on Rage and Video Hits. The 90s was full of great music and great Alternative Rock artists and bands with the exception of cheesy boy and girl bands like the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and the Spice Girls in the second half of the decade my Sister and I loved mainstream music back then.
What did you think of Jim Carrey as the Riddler? One of my only problems with the villains in that movie was I felt they rushed the Harvey Dent/ Two Face storyline and it would have been better if they had started the movie with Harvey Dent as Batman's friend before he got his face burnt on one side and become Two Face and they showed a flashback of it happening but I would have liked to have seen Harvey Dent's descent into madness and how he developed multiple personalities instead of just having the movie start off with Harvey as Two Face especially after what we saw with him in Batman Returns. There was originally going to be a third Batman by Tim Burton that was going to have Two Face as the villain and the introduction of Robin but he was going to be played by the same actor who played him in Batman Returns and from what I have heard about that movie it might have focused more on how Harvey become Two Face. I think Nolan's 'Dark Knight' movie did a better job of handling that but I think Two Face was wasted in that movie and should have been held off for the 'Dark Knight Rises' 'cause the Joker completely outshined him and we never got to see him stand on his own as the crime boss he is in the comic books.
With Catwoman joining in the Dark Knight Rises who Two Face has a history with I feel having him burnt towards the end of the 'Dark Knight' and coming back as Two Face in the 'Dark Knight Rises' would have been a lot better and they could have used Black Mask as the secondary villain in the 'Dark Knight' instead and had the Joker take over Roman's empire like he did in Arkham Origins. Even though like some other fans I was kinda disappointed with the creators of that game using the Joker as the main villain I liked his introduction and I liked how they added all the other villains in it with a bounty on Batman's head. In my opinion Arkham Origins and the entire Arkham Series could easily work as movies but there would just have to be another film or two between Origins and Arkham Asylum. I didn't know Bane was not the one who created the venom in the comic books and in the Origins game he was and he created another formula called 'T1' that turned him into the monster sized 9 foot Bane with the huge arms and the glowing green eyes we see in the comic books and other Arkham games and the 'T1' formula is what was later used by Dr Penelope Young to create the Titan.
One thing I do remember in all of the comic books I have read with Bane in them he was a short skinny guy that used venom to make him bigger and Batman and Robin got that right but wasted him as a henchman. I know he was Hispanic in the Arkham games but I wasn't sure if he was in the comic books too and I think you might be right about where his influence come from. In Arkham Origin Bane was able to uncover Batman's secret identity on his computer and nearly killed Alfred when he broke into the Bat Cave but when he used the T1 formula it made him lose his memory and turned him more primitive and that was something Bane was trying to fix with it before he used it on himself but he was never able to perfect the formula. There was a continuity error with that in Arkham Asylum 'cause when we saw him for the first time he was drained of venom and back to his normal size and there was no mention of what happened to him using the T1 formula but I think if they make an Arkham Origins 2 they will probably have Batman find a way to drain him off it and turn him back to his regular size. Unless I am mistaken the stuff Bane had in Arkham Asylum was Titan and not venom which explains why he is more the same size he was towards the end -

I dunno. Maybe I found something different. Like I said I had trouble finding a complete video. Sometimes I want to know what is wrong with people who upload videos! BTW, I love NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys!
I liked Jim as the Riddler. The problem with Two Face was they recast him. Which made it hard to have an continuity with him. Also their was a prologue to Batman and Robin where Batman helps Harvey round up the rest of the Penguin's gang. Nolan shouldn't have killed Two Face. He should have had him as the villain for The Dark Knight rises.
Does Catwoman have a history with Two Face in the comics? I know she does in the Arkham games but they're a different continuity. I liked Black Mask in Origins and felt kinda cheated when it turned out he was really the Joker. Yeah Venom was created by a scientist in Gotham and for awhile Batman used it to make himself stronger. You really should read Batman: Venom. It's a great story, though very tragic with two of the worst fathers in comics.
They must have changed Bane's backstory because in Vengeance of Bane he was already a muscular man when he was used in the Venom experiments. Been awhile since I played Origins so I do not recall if he was on Titan or Venom.
The thing I liked about Titan and it's use on the inmates in Arkham was it was a homage to an old Batman story where Hugo Strange was turning patients from an asylum into monster men. It was remade as Batman and the Monster Men and was the inspiration for a Bruce Timm cartoon for Batman's 75th anniversary.
I'm not a fan of Hollywood rebooting their franchises when they get a different actor. I think audiences are smart enough it's the same character, even if it's a new look. Just like when different artists work on a comic book. With a few tweaks Amazing Spider-Man could have been a sequel to Raimi's films and Batman Begins could have been a prequel to the Burton-Schumacher films.
I'd prefer a Batgirl movie to a TV series.
She's going to hit me with the frying pan.
I still think it's possible the Birds of Prey could appear in Gotham City Sirens. Maybe Barbara puts them together to take down Harley's team? I did read a great comic by Gail Simone with Nightwing and Oracle. Really made me want to see more of them together. Gail Simone should be allowed to right the script for a solo Batgirl movie or a Birds of Prey movie.
Don't be sorry! I'm enjoying myself.
