TVD actually has a multi-cultural cast (not that strange, since the US/Canada are immigrant countries). Paul Wesley (ne Pawe Wasilewski) comes from a Polish family:
I can fully understand why some actors with names that are difficult to pronounce change their names to something more English-sounding (as Paul Wesley obviously did). On the other hand, I think it's a sign of social progress that people in the entertainment industry, whether they're producers/directors/screen writers etc. or actors, no longer have to hide their Jewish/Eastern European/Southern European etc. background by adopting typical WASP screen names. -
