I thought the first time was well played, but the second was just a facepalm moment.
But then again I wondered why he just didn't craft some kryptonite bullets for those twin machine guns that popped up and started hitting him.
too simple? Thanks to Batmeh v Supermeh Yawn of Justice, the "S" now stands for Sidekick -

That seems actually dumb if he really considers him to be the dangerous end to humanity he claimed.
but then again this version of Batman was borderline functionally retarded so I'd say that works as an excuse. Thanks to Batmeh v Supermeh Yawn of Justice, the "S" now stands for Sidekick -

Yeah trying to explain Batman's actions is ridiculous.
I mean one key element that seems to get overlooked is that Batman called out Superman
without
any knowledge of what Lex was "planning". (one of the film's happy coincidences)
He just thought he was calling out the same old Superman, when in fact he was a man ready to commit murder to save his mother.
There are a thousand different scenarios that could have resulted from that encounter that would have prevented Bruce from getting anywhere near the spear. What if Clark had throw him to Utah? Or just stripped him of his armour from the get-go?
Batman is a tactical idiot and how he survived is beyondoh waitI know, they had to make Superman
even
stupidier, like being hit by literally every weapon Bruce has. -

Because it's brave and, urm, manly to kill a completely superior foe with a melee weapon. Also it's absolutely dumb and suicidal, like Alfred tells him. But hey, Bruce's ancestors were hunters or something, so I guess his genes force him to?!

He's faster than a speeding bullet, but he might not be able to react faster than a speeding bullet. He was flying at Batman very quickly and probably didn't have enough time to react to the gas canister. When he catches it on the roof, they were both stationary and Batman clearly telegraphed his attack. Not so with the second canister.

He was running very quickly. He probably didn't see the bullet until he was halfway in the air. Remember, he still doesn't have his powers. If he did, then he wouldn't have been charging towards him, he would have flew Batman through a wall.

Superman could barely stand at that moment. Yes, he was regaining his powers, but he was still unbelievably weak. When he tried to pick Batman up, he could barely even lift him. When he mustered enough strength and tossed Batman through the bathroom stalls, he fell down doing it.
At the same time, Superman was having a crisis of conscience in debating whether or not he should kill Batman. In fact, the first actual punch Superman landed on Batman was at this moment, so he was in it to win it at this point. He thought he could get a hit in before Batman shot him again, but alas, arrogance got the better of him.

Why didn't Superman leave after he found out Batman was Bruce Wayne.
As if Alfred was going to let Superman just kill Batman.
A billionaire with unlimited resources is dangerous.
Best superpower is wealth. But then again Clark is a farmboy with the brain capacity of a box of Frosted flakes.
