Jerome needed in mid-season finale.

I had hopes for the actor from Fish's bar in the very first episode, the comedian. When Jerome came, Cameron delivered one of the best Joker performances we've ever seen, on screen. I never understood why people are so against him being The Joker.
If Jerome isn't The Joker, The Joker will be a Jerome copycat, which is worse.
On top of that, they'll never find an actor in the same age category as David Mazouz who can play The Joker that well. The showrunners and especially Cameron have pretty much confirmed he is The Joker.
I've had to suffer enough with Leto's bleached Lil Wayne Joker version. I'm sad they didn't go with the Killing Joke origin, but having the Clown Prince of Crime be a copycat from some kid he saw on TV would be an actual crime on the character.

I never understood why people are so against him being The Joker.
It's because the producers have said that the show won't feature Batman, and The Joker is pretty defined by his obsession with Batman.
Your point about Joker being a Jerome Copycat is a fair one, though, but, then again, there are so many takes on The Joker and different approaches to his personality, that Gotham could well present a version that's pretty far removed from Jerome; that is, if they go with Joker at all.
I don't have a preference either way. I'd sure find it hard to resist tapping Joker if I was playing in the same Batman Lore sandbox that Gotham's writers are. -

It appears that tomorrow's episode is the mid-season finale. We'll see if they tease Jerome's return hopefully. You can bet that they'll have a cliffhanger, as they did last season with Fries/Freeze.
They were pretty rough, but they had something.
What was it?
I think it was the trousers.
