Dean is too fat. Got lazy in the years not getting work.
Though I dont approve of Hank Henshaw being him either even though he WAS Cyborg Superman in the comics:
"Hank Henshaw was an astronaut at NASA until a solar flare hit his space shuttle during an experiment in space, damaging the ship and the crew. Henshaw and the crew found that their bodies had begun to mutate and, after returning to Earth, Henshaw's entire crew (including his wife) eventually committed suicide. After learning that Superman had thrown the Eradicator into the sun in a battle during the space shuttle experiment, Henshaw blamed Superman for the solar flare and the accident. Before his body completely disintegrated due to the radiation exposure, Henshaw was able to save his consciousness. Using NASA communications equipment, Henshaw beams his mind into the birthing matrix which had carried Superman from Krypton to Earth as an infant. He creates a small exploration craft from the birthing matrix and departs into outer space alone. Becoming increasingly mentally unstable, Henshaw used Superman's birthing matrix to create a body identical to Superman's, albeit with cybernetic parts. He returned to Earth to kill Superman, only to discover that Superman had already died during Henshaw's absence. Following Superman's eventual resurrection, Henshaw would not only become a recurring adversary of Superman but of Green Lantern as well. Hank Henshaw became a member of the Sinestro Corps during the Blackest Night."
But thanks to the writers of this show utterly screwing up his backstory, we are left with no choice lol
They also messed up the Daxamites story:
"In the distant past, a dying alien race creates a number of containment devices in which to preserve their culture. They send them into space with contact teams, intent on meeting other civilizations. When a small group of these aliens arrive on the planet Krypton, they are met by the militant Kem-L, who kills them and corrupts one of the devices. Its new mission is to preserve his ideal of Kryptonian culture by eradicating all others and thus the device becomes known as the "Eradicator."
In its original form, the Eradicator resembles a stylized small rocket. Its top section is a prolate spheroid, which exudes a blue glow and is approximately three times the size of an egg. This is connected via four thin mount brackets to a glossy orange tail fin section of equal length. The ten equally spaced fins each have the shape of a pointed quarter ellipse, with the tapered end extending slightly beyond the rear of the squat main cylindrical body tube.
On Krypton, the Eradicator does all that it could over the years to protect Kryptonians, even from themselves. When a group of Kryptonian explorers leave Krypton in search of a new planet to colonize, the Eradicator alters their birthing matrices and makes them fatally allergic to lead, thus creating
    Daxamites
    .
To further ensure that nobody left Krypton, the Eradicator alters Kryptonians by encoding in them a genetic defect so that they will instantly perish if they leave their world. One of the surviving aliens, known as the Cleric, takes the Eradicator and leaves Krypton with a group of followers. Unfortunately, they die soon thereafter, as the Kryptonian genetic link to their home planet precludes their survival off-world. The Cleric keeps the Eradicator for 200,000 years, until he encounters Superman on Warworld, Superman currently in self-imposed exile from Earth due to his guilt over executing three Kryptonians from a pocket universe.
With the device, the two exchange memories - which explains that Kal-El was able to leave Krypton thanks to genetic treatments his father had undergone to cure his DNA of the Eradicator's defect - and the Cleric has a vision of Superman in combat with Mongul. The Cleric wishes to save Superman's life, and the Eradicator transports Superman to the Cleric's asteroid.
The Cleric notices that the device has changed to protect Krypton's sole survivor, and he and Superman use it to heal their wounds, both physical and spiritual. As they talk about their pasts, the Cleric assures Superman that his departure has only deprived his world of a great hero rather than sparing it from the threat he perceived he had become, confident that Kal-El would only have killed when he had no other choice to preserve justice. When the Cleric gives the Eradicator to Superman, he rapidly ages and dies as the link to the Eradicator extending his life is severed. Superman marks the Cleric's grave with his symbol to reflect the impact the Cleric had on him.
After Superman returns to Earth with the Eradicator, the device causes a number of bizarre events, including altering Jimmy Olsen into a malleable form, causing him extreme pain in the process.
Superman throws the device into a crevasse in Antarctica, where it alters the ice to create the Fortress of Solitude, and possesses two scientists to create a portal to the Phantom Zone, whence it draw

They can put him in a suit like Shipp's Jay Garrick with molded muscles.

And them having Dean Cain's character be himself after 15 years in imprisonment was a big waste and cop-out.
I feel like this show was too afraid to have Cain play the villain. The intended girly audience is too sensitive it seems.
How do you know that he
        wasn't
        a villain?
Doesn't it seem awfully convenient to you that Jeremiah just happens to show up, complete with an access card to open their cells and the outer gate, and not only is there nobody chasing them until after they're safely away, he even has time to pull a bullet out of Mon-El's leg.
What's he been doing all this time? Just wandering around the secret, disposable Cadmus base and nobody noticed?
Luke, Leia and Han had more trouble escaping the Death Star than Kara did escaping Cadmus. In the words of Han Solo, "That was too easy!"

Leia was the one that said it, not Han.
I used to be indecisive. Now, I'm not so sure.

We still don't know if Jeremiah is completely unchanged.
                That's the problem.
They didn't drop any hints of it, to set up for future episodes.
So his return was totally underwhelming.

I was very happy and surprised to see Dean Cain in Supergirl because he's in such demand since Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman ended in 1997! He was acting in 1997 in movies and TV shows and has never stopped acting constantly if you look at his filmography on here. H s acting in 10 projects lined up until 2017 right now! He's in a new Hallmark Christmas movie tonight, November 23! So, that's why I didn't think he would have time to be on Supergirl anytime soon. I don't think he had time to shoot much for this episode, so that's why he played Jeremiah Danvers. And, I like seeing him as a "good guy" since I loved him as Superman/Clark Kent!
Anyway, I wanted to mention that what DragonbradZ said about Dean Cain, "Got lazy in the years not working" is not correct as I mentioned above that he's never stopped working as an actor since being Superman, and in big demand. I saw him in an interview, and he was happy being in Supergirl since he had played Superman!
I understand what you're saying knightfall182, but I just watch this show for fun and light entertainment, and I don't delve deeply into it. Dean Cain did play an immortal who was trying to build his love by using other body parts in Smallville, and I liked seeing him on that show, but again I like him better as a good guy! And, he's so busy with 10 upcoming projects, I'm glad he was able to film a small role on here! It made my night seeing him since I'm a big fan of his! I can't wait to see him Thanksgiving Eve on Hallmark in Broadcasting Christmas! Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

It would make no sense for Jeremiah to be Cyborg Superman.
It didn't seem like he's been imprisoned for years. He's just hiding inside Cadmus like some kind of Phantom of the Opera.

Berlanti is keeping a big secret regarding Dean Cain, this looks to me that he will be the final Cyborg-Superman.
pdt: I don't think CS sucked, you say it just because it does not look like superman? okay

If that was the case, they should have planted seeds for it in this episode.
The way they handled his return was really awkward.
Having 2 Cyborg Supermans is a bit underwhelming too.
The character was a really threatening, badass villain in the comics.

LOL. Dean Cain playing Cyborg Superman. If someone was gonna play Cyborg Superman, it should have been Tyler Hoechlin and no one else because he already played the Superman role in two episodes already. Cyborg Superman has the same DNA physical look as Superman so it would only be fitting Hoechlin gets the role and no one else.
You're clearly an idiot, don't get mad because I tell you the truth.

That comic storyline wouldn't really work here, since there's no Birthing Matrix.
Cyborg Superman basically just needs to look like a Superman actor.
Keep in mind, this show used a different actress than Benoist to play Bizarro.
                              Same deal.
