since she not only saw his face but stared into his eyes.
I think they could get around this since his eyes weren't glowing w/ 'hellfire' when he showed his true self to Linda.

Yeathis show isn't based on the usual mythos of Lucifer. It's based on the comics, and granted that I am only slightly familiar with the comic, I do not recall that such a thing applies to the comics, or this series. And then even if I'm wrong, and that is a part of the comic mythos, that certainly doesn't mean that it will apply to the show, seeing as how they have changed many things from the comics already.
That being said, from the preview of next week, it doesn't even seem as though Linda is even terrorized at all. In shock that Lucifer wasn't lying, and upset that she has had a copious amount of sex with the devil, sure. But not terrorized. -

According to next week's sneak peek, Linda doesn't want to even come out of her home.
This doesn't make sense. He has never hurt her before, why would she be terrified all of a sudden.

Same reason Amenadiel warned Lucifer about anyone seeing his angel wings. And Lucifer responding, "I know that brother! I just saw someone throw himself off a building after getting a peek" (paraphrased)
Same reason Jimmy Barnes is in a mental hospital and beats himself to a bloody pulp when he simply hears Lucifer's name. Same reason, everyone Lucifer flashes his eyes at, ends up quivering on the floor, mumbling and crying to themselves.
Humans can't handle divinity. For some reason, he truly hoped that Linda could. The way he sat there so calmly in his devil face, trying not to startle her, and then his crestfallen look when he realizes she's responded the same way everyone does, just shows how much he was hoping she'd be different. I think this is something he's been longing foreven wanting Chloe to test his blood. Even though Amenadiel says it's a terrible idea, Lucifer says,"it's Chloe". He truly wants to be understood and known, and accepted and if Chloe and Linda can't do it, then no one ever will. Or so he thinks.

Thanks, centrd! I forgot about the wings and divinity. I thought that mostly sinners were scared of Lucifer, especially when he showed them his punisher side.

Truly.
It's so crazy. I STILL feel sad about it a whole day later. It's like this Lucifer character has become a real person somehow! I mean, that is really crazy!
I sure hope Lucifer gets a hug soon or I'm going to be quivering on the floor myself, but not for the usual reason.

I'm so with you there.
What makes it even sadder is that if Lucifer regarded it as a trial run before opening up to Chloe (as she asked him to at one point in the episode), it went bad. I doubt that he will consider showing Chloe his true nature any time soon.
Damn, all that Chloe cares for is Trixie. She doesn't even think about dating Lucifer, let alone dealing with his devilish issues.

You know, that's interesting. I think Chloe is SO fixated and worried about doing everything right, being a good mom, a good cop, a good team with her daughter's dad, a strong, independent woman, a good role model, etc. that she doesn't give herself any space to explore her feelings at all. I mean, she truly
does
care about Lucifer, and she's aware of it to a degree, but she's pushed it way down on her priority list. She rationalizes it by saying he's "got her back" and "makes her a better detective". She simply can't handle that she might actually care more for him than she'll allow herself to admit.

I respect her being a good mother, professional, for keeping friendly relationships with Dan, but can't help but wonder how she resists company of such a gorgeous man? She's so in denial, as much as Luci.
Do you think they would make a good couple?
P.S.Thanks for all your elucidative comments, centrd, you are great at setting the record straight.

Ah, you're sweet. But I get
way
off track too, remember that.
Me personally, yeah I think they'd make a GREAT couple. I think they're mirrors of each other, but in a way that's very good and helpful to each other. I think they are actually very simpatico way down underneath all of the walls they've each constructed, so yeah, I think they'd be wonderful together. And I truly hope we get to see that happen by the end of the series.
You?

I have mixed feelings.
On the one hand, as you say, they will be helpful to each other, Chloe becoming less uptight, and Luci more mature.
On the other hand, they have different goals as of now: Luci wants to have fun and fool around, and Chloe already grew out of such lifestyle. I don't see how they can build durable relationships, they are complete opposites in that regard.
And I also have a concern that if Luci becomes more serious he will lose the bulk of his charm and appeal.
But I want them to be together anyway lol. I firmly believe that the show's writers are up to the task of hooking up those two.

Yeah, I don't think the persona Lucifer adopts is really who he is. It's a mask most of the time. I think as he becomes more whole, and lets down his barriers, he will keep all of his best traits, definitely his willful qualities. He'll always be a rebel because it's who he fundamentally is. But I can't imagine his humor and "Luciferness" would disappear just because he learns how to love someone.
Also, Lucifer's ancient, a little change once in a while would be good for him.

Fingers crossed, his Luciferness won't disappear but the question is whether Chloe will be comfortable with it. So far she's often appalled by his behaviour and has to call him to order all the time. I wonder how it will work out in the relationship.

I just think he will become more playful with her, maybe a little naughty but not doing things that are outright illegal. When you love someone, you want to respect what's important to them. I'm sure he can continue to be himself, get his kicks teasing her, without making her compromise her values. Well, most of the time.

The other thing we have to remember is that his fundamental instincts are right. And good. He just doesn't know how to execute. Like with Trixie, who he purportedly dislikes, when she was having a hard time and acting out, he wanted to help by giving her the doll she wanted. It wasn't just for Chloe either, or reacting to his own mother's abandonment, he wanted the child to feel better so bought her the exact doll she wanted, and even included a chocolate cake accessory. His intentions were good, but he didn't understand that just giving a child whatever she wants isn't necessarily what she really needs. Even so, his heart was in the right place. As it often is, even if he denies it or is practically unaware of it. Deep down, he has a basic level of decency and an ethical code that matches Chloe's.

I think he does, being a punisher is quite a noble thing too, but it's a lesser component of his appeal. It amuses me when he's being outrageously insolent, like when he wanted to touch the charred crotch or was gloating over disturbing videos, but maybe Chloe doesn't find it appealing, maybe she doesn't want to be a 24/7 mom to an overgrown baby, she has an actual child to raise.
When you love someone, you want to respect what's important to them. I'm sure he can continue to be himself, get his kicks teasing her, without making her compromise her values.
Oh, so well said. Amen to that. I think they both will have to make concessions.

Oh and one last thing! lol.
Chloe has a bit of a rebel streak in her too. If she didn't she wouldn't have gotten herself ostracised from her entire department. She wouldn't have kept investigating numerous cases against Dan's "advice". She wouldn't have punched out that paparazzo at her father's funeral. And she most definitely wouldn't keep looking the other way at Lucifer's antics, over and over and again. She's not really interested in human vices, like drugs and speeding and breaking basic rules, she's interested in protecting people from violence and bringing justice to murderers and their victims.
That's why she's not really judgmental about Lucifer's lifestyle, the drinking or the drugs. As long as no one's hurt, she's okay with it. So she is a bit of a rebel too, considering she's supposed to represent law and order.

All of the single moms I know, really don't date (unless their children are already grown up, and it's still hard to do this, let alone find a GOOD and single man somewhere). Focusing on their children and their futures certainly
should
be priority because there is no guarantee some guy won't come in and cause distress in your home life (I've heard too many stories, some of them can be emotionally time-consuming after first glance is said and done). Honestly while we figure she'll pair off with him down the road, Lucifer has some severe issues, to say the least..
He sleeps with multiple partners, does drugs, drinks, and it's fairly dangerous to be in his world. There is a disadvantage to not knowing when someone from God's lineage is out to kill you, whereas a suspect, you suspect already. Anyway, Lucifer is pretty damaged and seriously emotionally handicapped. Someone turns to sex and drugs when they're seriously avoiding human relationships/attachments. Chloe's got to get up in the mornings, get Trixie working on getting ready for school, get breakfast on the table, make sure her kid has her backpack ready (which they always manage to leave unpacked by the time the bus gets around), get her own coffee, get dressed, attend to homicides, interview leads & suspects, come home, get dinner on the table, check the homework, get Trixie in the bath, get ready for the next day, etc etc
I think the show is sending the right message, Chloe doesn't want to acknowledge a 'bad boy.' Caring for them doesn't necessarily mean it should evolve into a romantic relationship. Chloe's the type to want someone serious anyhow, not a 'booty-call,' which Lucifer seriously is I imagine he'd cause her some pain somehow, he just can't help it. It's his mother's calling card, is what I'm getting. They're fueled by hurt emotions, with no mechanisms to resolve conflict without just destroying others around them. I mean, Amenadiel lost his wingsUriel's gone.. ugh. As a sibling of that family, I wonder if someone's REALLY upset about that one in the form of "I hate you, mother, Lucifer, and how you think the whole universe bows to you." I would be kind of ticked
