it's not "60's" music.
Late 70's, early 80's, music and it fits since Star Lord's mom shared her music with ihm, it's his connection to her, and, finallyhe hasn't seen earth since he was a child so he would have no knowledge of "modern music".

It's a movie they got all that technology but can't get different music ? It doesn't have to be modern , maybe 90s or early 2000s
He can still have his moms memory. Put her music in a safe and move on

Quill would have no knowledge on music from the 90's or 2000's since he left Earth in 1988. All he would know is the music from his time and music his mom introduced him to.
Also, the amount of technology present on ALIEN worlds would have no bearing on what era of EARTH music is heard in a movie where we're suppose to relate to the central character, an EARTHING, whose musical knowledge stopped in 1988

We? Well you don't have to.
Anyway, the new Mix will most likely have other songs pre-1988, like it or not. IDK if anything from the first volume will be played again in the film or just be used for for the teaser and other trailers. -

Lol, I wish I had that "bad taste" as you call it. In fact I've started developing it the last few years, even before this film (i.e. by watching early Tarantino movies: he uses this kind of classics. Heck, he even used aforementioned "Hooked" in Reservoir Dogs, one of the best directorial debuts IMO).
But then, you also suggested 90's and early 2000 in one of your replies. I thought you wanted better music :v
