I wonder if they'll give him the ability to telepathically sense humans as well and if he can "mindblast" people. Even if the latter just temporarily scrambles you it would be very useful in a fight against even Superman, WW or the Flash.
"Need" is just a fiction. As is "should", "must", "value" and "importance". -

Yeah, they should give him those abilities. If all they give him is just a little bit of extra strength, then he wouldn't be of much value to the League. He'd need something more to bring to the table. So, in that sense, he must have some kind of other power and your idea of telepathy is important.

That would actually make a kind of sense, he temporarily disables your IQ and leaves you flopping on the ground and gasping at the air from the mild shock of it.
