Even though the FF movies were not that good I wonder if Marvel noticed that Chris Evans was actually pretty good in them and that is what gave him their attention. If so, at least those movies can be credited for being a kind of star making role for him

Because he can, and he's played more than two. He's a great actor. The two you are referring to are completely different heroes. He pulls them both off wonderfully.

Yeah, but unlike Evans, Reynolds sucked (and the movies with him) in all those roles (well, Deadpool sure looks like crap in the trailers). So it doesn't compare.
Same with Affleck, his Daredevil also sucked.

As far as I have heard, FF actually spoke against giving him Cap, because Marvel didn't want an actor playing two heroes. But Joe Johnston liked his Work in some of the smaller movies he did, and cast him based on that.
Who am I to argue with the captain of the Enterprise?

Yeah, it wasn't FF that got Marvel Studios interested in Chris Evans. Apparently they loved his audition. Pretty cut dry. At the time I wasn't thrilled, but then I saw him as Cap and I was very impressed. The studio almost went with Jim from the office for Steve Rogers.

Yeah I heard something similar. Fine with me. He's great as Captain America, and in FF actually he's one of the few good things about it.
