2 words that shouldnt be used!!! they avoid saying the s word though. i dont think americans understand how offensive "wanker" is in UK. its blocked before 9pm on tv and dubbed over in american tv shows.

I thought it was brilliant. They could use "naughty" words and get away with it because it's not censored in the US. It actually just goes to show how stupid "bad words" are as a concept. Didn't the dad also call Manchester Black a quim in the flashback? Is that word too old school to be censored in the UK?

Agreed, these words greatly added to Manchester Black's character overall but also it was quite a brave move to use and include them in this animated feature film anyhow.
While the animation was heavily in question with this feature film, the story and dialogue obviously shone through greatly which made it stand out unlike many previous DC animated features by comparison.

I'm American and knew what those words meant. I actually laughed at it because I thought it was a great way to get around the American censors.

Totally agree that it was great to get past the censors.
I kinda got the feeling though that it was kinda symbolic. I don't think Superman even really knew what Wanker was except that it wasn't nice. Think about it that way, compare it to the whole theme of old-fashioned vs. Flashy-new and you get some interesting experiences.
I laughed my ass off on multiple levels. Awesomeness.

True ,it was kinda odd to hear it from him but shows he needs to say those kind of words occasionally to show that he isn't out of touch or outdated with the modern times.
Considering the fact he also grew up on a farm in the mid-west (Kansas), Clark/Superman can't be entirely soft anyways. As i'm sure he'd have heard a hell of a lot worse things in the country and state he grew up in.

Why? People use profanity in real life, and that should be reflected in fiction. I feel the same about smoking and guns. People may not like those things for various reasons, but we can't pretend they don't exist.
I agree that it can get excessive, but I don't think it was here.. then again, I'm American, so hearing wanker and tosser over and over again doesn't quite make me cringe in the same way a Brit would.

noone has a right to censort speech regardless of time. any person that thinks he can is a wanker and tosser and some more words that IMDB would censor. so yes, IMDB is wanker and tosser.
