Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Kirk Douglas

In honor of his birthday, I decided to finally watch a movie with the man. Since I somehow hadn't yet.
I had The Fury at home. It was a very good and creepy movie, Kirk's performance in it was excellent. An impressive emotional range! Sure, he didn't get 100% focused on, but he was truly great as an avengeful father.

There are far, far better films of his than The Fury. Watch The Bad and the Beautiful, Two Weeks in Another Town, Champion (he's AMAZING in it!!), SPARTACUS, and his favorite: Lonely are the Brave.
There are many others but those are probably my favorite.

Try Saturn 3. Farrah Fawcett gets her kit off while being persued by a horny robot led about by an 'evil' Harvey Keitel, while Kirk gets to utter lines like 'I thought I could kill..I guess I'm just not update enough' and 'I think I'm about abort-time'!
        Seriously entertaining

No, in all seriousness, Paths Of Glory is the one many would recommend. It helped cement Douglas's cool, principled and rebellious screen persona, as well as setting then new technical benchmarks in cinema, courtesy of Stanley Kubrick.
