i dont think he was ever at their level of popularity, even in his prime, you cannot come back to a place you never were in the first place,
while i respect you trying to make your point, i wouldnt hold my breath for any of that
    stay safe

Well I guess Pierce might as well be in the same boat as Steven "Fat" Seagal.

If you look at the big picture, GoldenEye is his last movie that accomplished two things simultaneously: multiple excellent reviews/ratings and box office returns (or generally speaking, high number of viewers). Since after his debut to James Bond, his works either get not so good reviews/ratings or don't not get the recognition they deserve. In a way, GoldenEye is like his one-hit wonder to the majority of the audience, particularly outside of his fanbase. I know Pierce is better than this yet Hollywood is pulling a Seagal out of him very slowly. I mean, look at his recent works Survivor, Some Kind of Beautiful and Urge. Video-on-demand with limited theatrical release.

I just watched the trailer for his tv series The Son and it looks promising like it might resurrect his career. TV is doing great stuff for underrated film actors and giving them great popularity.
Film never treated Hugh Laurie the way he desreved and his career took a hig boost with House and he is still great doing tv now nominated for the Night Manager and seems like Chance is not doing bad at all.
So tv is now the way for ageist Hollywood, Kevin spacy is very happy on House of Cards along Robin Wright who was never very appreciated on the big screen.
As long as they are doing great it doesn't matter if its tv or film so who knows maybe the Son lasts 10 seasons and Pierce gets nominated for 10 Emmys in. Row.

Pierce deserves better than what his Bond career had given him.

And this series will finally make him justice.
Even if its the small screen it's still much more fair a good series than a direct to dvd movie, he wouldn't be the first to get the career he deserves quite late.
Again Hugh Laurie is a big exampl5b4e who before House he was just playing Stewart Little's father and a henchmen in 101 Dalmatians then came that famous series and now he is in his third great tv show.
I bet He could have any film he wanted but tv is becoming a great creative medium with wonderful characters so why not staying there which is where the great quality is happening.

While I'm glad Pierce does The Son, I'm worried about his attempt in doing Southern accent being slammed by critics like his Mamma Mia singing did.

i don't think there will be any problems with it, i don't think accents are such a big deal at least regional accents. The crircs only care if its the American accent right and the same goes for the British.
Do you think people noticed if Hugh was doing the newJersey accent which was supposed to House accent or he got well the San Francisco accent in Chnce ?
No they only noticed he didn't sound British, plain and simple

And the difference is with Emmys an actor has like 5 chances to win meanwhile with the oscars there is only one chance.

Do you think Pierce will win or at least nominated by Emmy for The Son? Really though he deserves better movie offers. Why else would Benedict Cumberbatch getting more great film offers thanks to Sherlock?

We have to see the reviews but if turn out to be mostly positive then yes he has a big chance

This man's work has been confined within his own fanbase for FAR TOO LONG already, and his last classic work that has a5b4n audience beyond his fanbase was GoldenEye.

I think you're overreacting a bit, ok he didn't have the best career post Bond but he was never exactly a top actor, sure he is very charming and charismatic but mostly his appeal were his looks so having the career he had based on looks it's pretty good.

Maybe I am, but this man deserves a classic outside of GoldenEye. Why? He's a part of our childhood, and we grew up watching him. I just hate to see this man's talents go to waste or go unnoticed, especially his true grit as a lead in action films that could've used in his Bonds. When I look at him and his name, I see that he's bigger than Bond just like I see Harrison Ford and Patrick Stewart being bigger than Star Wars (along with Indy) and Trek, respectively.

I think he had it with Thomas Crown its just that the momentum of that film past just like The Mask of Zorro and his other three Bond flicks.
They were considered great at their respective time. even Titanic has lost popularity among cinephiles and critics who they couldn't have enough praise when it was released.
Tho2000usands of successful films latter become unsuccessful with time and loose steam maybe within some years the only successful Craig film as Bond could be Casino Royale.
Sean Connery struggled a lot in his first years post Bond it was till untouchables that he had a real career post Bond. If it wasn't for that film he could have been forgotten or only remembered as the best Bond but no one having a clue with his other films.
And really if the son succeds i wouldn't mind if he doesn't go back to the big screen and instead chooses to do great series, just like Hugh. Right now its an odd path staying on tv. Usually actors if they got successful with one tv show they see it as an opportunity to jump to the big screen and look for the oscar but maybe it won't be in a short future.
I could see all the previous generations of actors choosing tv and the ones who started quite late along with new comers. Sadly the movie world haa become like the modeling world is a no medium for old men.
Modeling and film has become a place for the Young and beautiful.

Thomas Crown came close in attracting a wider audience. Yes, its reception is excellent. However, it mostly attracted mature audiences, and it opened #4 at the US box office. The point is that Crown doesn't have much more mainstream audience as it did as Pierce's Bonds. Considering he's not fan of his own Bonds after GoldenEye (even though I personally enjoy them), I prayed that he would have a third career bigger and better than Bond. November Man could've been that vehicle, but like his every post-GoldenEye works unfortunately, it still victim into the realm of not so good reviews/ratings or not getting the recognition they deserves. If not November Man, The Son is all we got. The thing is that since Pierce is the best and most popular since Sean, he deserves as much respect and recognition as the latter.
