Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Morgan Freeman

I used to ADORE this man's presence on screen. Now it feels as though he's completely stagnated as an actor who now plays one role:
Morgan Freeman. An old and jaded Morgan Freeman.

Nothing wrong with that. Very similar to John Wayne playing John Wayne till the very end (with just a few exceptions). Great movie stars , but with a very narrow range. (As opposed to say, the likes of Ralph Fiennes) . Magical within their own range of playing authoritive figures, pretty useless outside their range. Perhaps you are confusing Movie Stars with Movie Actors?

yes, Morgan Freeman is just like John Wayne, I also think Marlon Brando is similar to Don Knotts.
Do they still call it an elevator when it goes down?

Your correct. He's a token actor. He's RUBBISH and knows no other way to act yet he's in EVERY movie.
I get so far into a film now, and when he pops up innit, I turn it off! Dresful dredful smug actor that!
