Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Salma Hayek

Of course, one of the best looking and most successful women in Hollywood has a mexican nationality and racist gringos will try to deny her "mexican-ness" You just can't see mexicans16d0 being successful, can you?
But you know what? I don't CARE!. Salma is FAR from being a very good actress. There are many actresses here that can run circles around her and they don't need the currupted Hollywood and they don't need to screw an old french man in order to be recognized. She denies her own roots and she didn't sing the mexican national anthem with the same respect she sang the horrible american one, so you might be right. After all, she also speaks with an spanish accent
    she's all yours!

And as a not-Mexican, I can tell you that no ones care what you think.
WORDS MEAN THINGS! Also, before you come to bitch about a plot hole, rewatch the show/movie.

I love Salma Hayek, mainly for her personality. I don't care whether she was a good actress or not, or whether she is Asian, Caucab68sian, Latin, or European white. She's smart and knew how things work in Hollywood la-la land, or in general as a woman fighting against time. That said, Salma Hayek is actually Lebanese on her father's side. But of course she is a Mexican-national for being born and raised. Lebanese diaspora were heavily spread throughout the Latin world (Mexico's richest Carlos Slim Hel is of Lebanese heritage), all the way down to South America, introducing their food along the way such as Shawarma and rotisserie meat roasted on a metal rod known in Mexico as 'al pastor'. The shawarma is actually meat wrapped in pita, giving birth to the burrito.
