it's precisely relevant. both things are exactly the same. she's talking about women who are being exploited for their sexuality as actresses and she was ok being sexually exploited when she was a young actress. that's hypocritical and wrong.

No, it would be hypocracy if she held both sentiments at once. This is a matter of a person changing her mind, which was implied in my post; there cant be a converse relationship between time elapsing and any new state of mind, without the
development of the state of mind
      .
The correct way to say this is that your argument is inherently contradictive, and therefore not logical; she cant have changed her mind and still hold her old views at the same time, that makes no sense.

but she does hold both sentiments at once because she still shows nudity in her movies.

Ah, but with my secret super power - being from Europe - I can distinguish between the issue of the ideal that Hollywood tries to uphold with regards to how women should look and act in private, and the issue of nudity in movies.
I don't care in the slightest about nudity in fiction, most feminists don't.
The only viable argument that I can see here is that she should retire from acting because her biological appearance plays into the ideal But she has other options that are equally or more effective, such as using her position to advocate feminism.
As I said in an earlier post, the only notable thing about this thread is its very existence. Its lack of substance is a lot more suspicious than the questions it tries to raise.

This is the life cycle of the hollywood starlet. When they are young, they are thrilled to replace the aging starlet. When they are the aging starlet, they see something wrong in this horrible world.
Reality sucks, but it is reality none-the-less.

but it's hypocritical and contradictive and wrong. you can't be a sexual object and be sexually exploited in your early movies and also when you are old say I'm a feminist against the exploiting of women in Hollywood. you can't just be a feminist when it's convenient, when you are an old actress. that's not a feminist.

Hollywood is full of aging starlets who formerly exploited their youth and beauty in earlier years, only to bemoan the fact that when they get older, they are also replaceable by the young and beautiful woman that Hollywood loves. Hollywood is full of hypocrisy and contradiction.

exactly, back in 1995 she was in Desperado and From Dusk 'Till Dawn. both her roles were just about the definitive examples of exploitive actress roles. in one she played a stripper(who doesn't strip oddly but typically when it comes to Hollywood big time actresses nowadays, i.e. Jessica Alba in, hey in another Robert Rodriguez film, Sin City, that's weird.) and in the other she played sexy, eye candy, a role which required her to walk around showing her cleavage the entire movie, and a role which required her to show her ass also, so they both were of the cheesecake variety.
she said you still have to be a great wife and mother and you have to be skinny and you have to look 20 when you are 40 when you are an actress, and that she doesn't think that that is right. well, actually as an actress you have to do all those things, women should have to do all those things. they deserve to suffer in every way.

Its true that as some women age and lose their beauty, they become resentful and turn into sex-negative, obnoxious, man-hating, sexist-pig feminists. Its a sad thing really. But I cannot believe that Salma Hayek has crossed over to the dark side. She's still amazingly beautiful and hot, and she has the best cleavage ever. The reporter probably just made the feminist crap up, and attributed it to her, as a typical liberal tactic to try to popularize feminism. The liberal media has a political agenda and often just makes stuff up or "misquotes" actors to suit their own purposes. I've seen numerous interviews (video taped) where Salma is more than happy to talk about her breasts and she says she loves to flaunt her body. She is a hot tamale who is pro-sex, not an uptight feminist bitch.
