No love for him in Top Secret! which was his first movie role?
He can also do comedy and was great in that.
As you can see and hear he does have the singing chops which he then used for his later role in The Doors.

I recently saw it and felt he wasn't integral enough by becoming a wallpaper most of the time although I could see the musical aspects he uniquely brought to the table. He would work his way up until The Doors completely changed my perception of him.
No matter what, I consider him a true actor who's been consistently underrated.
