I would have to go with The End of the Affairs, both in terms of her performance and the film overall. She was devastatingly good in that film.

      Five amongst my faves:
      The End of the Affair
      Boogie Nights
      Far From Heaven
      The Hours
Chloe (great chemistry between her and Seyfried).

Life is very long when you are lonely.

            4. The Kids Are All Right
            5. Boogie Nights
This was really hard haha, I can't choose just one.

I love Julianne so much and have seen almost all her films. If she wasn't in them I never would have given some of these movies a chance oh Julie, the things I do for you! My top 5 in no particular order:
              Far from Heaven
              Magnolia
The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio
              Laws of Attraction (srs)
              The Kids Are All Right
I would mention The Hours but it's overrated.

Boogie Nights and Far From Heaven. She's such a good and versatile actress.

Favourite movie or favourite performance in a movie? There is a difference.

                      1. Safe - By far her best performance and a great film.
                      2. Far From Heaven - Great performance and a great film.
                      3. The Hours - Moore was fantastic (rivalling Streep) but the film was terrible.

Her role in it is very small, but my vote goes to The Fugitive.

I love her so much as an actress.
                          Laws of attraction
                          Blindness
                          Still Alice
                          Boogie nights

                          Far From Heaven
The kids are all right (I also love Mark Ruffalo)
                          Freeheld.

The Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio is one of my favorites.
But I just love her in everything.
I've watched her in 2 different movies today:
                                The English Teacher
                                What Maisie Knew
From narcissistic rock and roll parent to school marm.she has great, believable range.

Sarah Palin. So good, I couldn't tell them apart. Voice, look, walk..so Palin. Other than that, I don't much care for her acting.
