Oh, mate, celebrity crushes are a way of life for people with a lot of fan energy regardless of age. I'm exactly like you but not with Julia. I absolutely need someone to obsess over just to feel sane. Typically each crush will last 2-12 months and will then be replaced by the next object of adoration
Just embrace it, dude. Fan energy's normal - in fact, that's the emotion that all major religions feed off (sadly). -

While I wouldn't say I hated her, I always perceived her as just another overrated Hollywood actor. While my opinion of her an actor hasn't really chan16d0ge, as a person I could respect more. During the summer, I was hearing about how Julia Roberts was in town filming her newest movie. I'm guessing it's her comeback movie.
Anyways the other extras were telling me how nice she was on set and stuff. Reminded me of Reese Witherspoon's behaviour on set. Well low and behold I ended up on the Julia Roberts set shortly after, and she did seem to live up to what I was hearing about her. Didn't come off as a snob of anything, which I can't begrudge or anything.
Oh also something I was wondering about was finally answered. I know Julia claims to be 5 foot 9, however I noticed a number of times other actors in the 5 foot 7 range tends to match her height. There was one woman I was talking to before ending up on the Washer set who told me she was just 5 foot 1 and that Julia was only a little taller than her. I found that rather interesting.
Anyways when I was on set, it was an auditorium scene, so for the most part everyone was sitting down. However when we were given a break, and everyone was lining up for the exit, I was standing next to Julia and she was just slightly shorter than me. Somewhere around 5'7 to 5'8, or you can say 5'7.5 if you want to be picky because I'm around 5'8 myself. This would explain why other woman in the 5'7 range looks as tall as her. Initially Helen Hunt I thought look taller than Julia when I was on a movie of her's around the same time. However Helen was also wearing heeled boots which was why she was taller than me. In one of the later days, Helen walked by me with her dog and she was slightly shorter than me too. Probably around Julia Roberts height I would say.
Something kind of funny an acting teacher and veteran actor told me was that actors in Hollywood tended to be quite short, but he later added that actors these days are pretty tall now. From my own personal experience, that tends to be the case. Even regarding their listed heights, it's the newer actors who tend to be on the taller side of their listed heights as oppose to the older actors. For example while I gave my encounters with Julia and Helen Hunt, three very recent female actors I worked with was the opposite of this. Not sure who here has seen the series Chicago Fire, but there was a recurring guest star named Christine Evangelista on that show who I did not expect to see back in October. Anyways it was for the series The Arrangement, and I saw a woman who looked like Christine walking pass me away from set. I thought she looked like the Chicago Fire actor, but didn't thought it was her because Christine was listed as 5'7 while the woman walking pass me looked taller than me and Christine was a fairly new and obscure actor, so not sure what were the odds I would already be encountering her. I asked for a call sheet to know for certain, and it turned out it was her. Shortly after she returned back to set and I was standing next to and walking past her a lot. She wasn't as tall as my first impressions thought, but she kept on looking anyway between my height to just a tad bit shorter than me. Easily as tall as Julia and Helen though. The other actor was Tori Anderson on that CW show No Tomorrow. Only saw bits and pieces of the show. When I was on set though, she looked 5'9 as she was taller than me. When I looked her up on this site, I'm surprised she's only listed as 5'8. Granted we filmed in a park, the ground wasn't exactly even where she would've had the "high ground", but she was standing right next to me and the fountain area wasn't that uneven to have altered our heights by that much that I'm certain she is taller than me. Dakota Johnson is another one. She's listed as just barely above 5'7 when she's one of the few female actors that I recall being the same height as me. Though I have been doing this long enough to know there's plenty of actors this site is shortchanging while there are others the site is overrating. -

I don't even care that she's older than my own mother, lol (which would usually be a deal breaker for me)
I am glad you came over to the other side. The movies you mentioned were mostly when she was a lot younger than your mom. So at least you kind of grew with her. I am in love with Cary Grant and have been since I was like 7. I have always liked people older than my [beyotchy] generation irl.
