Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Brooke Shields

I was also surprised Brooke critized Miley Cyrus when she (Brooke) was in Pretty Baby: Where she played a New Orleans whorehouse child. I remember when this movie came out the year I graduated high school (1978) and there was ALYWAYS posted a Warning on all the movie ads, "The Management Does not Recommend This Movie for Children." This was before NC-17. The only other movie I remember with such a WARNING back then was 'Cruising.'

Uh you can't really judge or criticize Brooke on something she did as a kid. She was twelve. However, Miley is a grown adult. She knows better.

I still think broke had no right. I'm sure if it were up to her she would never do that. She was being exploited sexually by her own mother at such a young age. Still that gives her no right to judge Miley. She should have known that her past would be brought up whenever she critiqued someone for being a bad influence.

why can't she criticize a grown adult? and Brooke was just a child doing what her job was without a voice to say she objected to it. she had no choice.

If you're going to criticize anyone, criticize her (Brooke's) mother, as she was the one who condoned the role for her.

why is it wrong to show that in a movie? I mean to justly and realistically show what happened then and what still happens to girl in Asian countries by the age of 9 you have to show Brooke nude and in all those sexual situations. people are getting way too pc nowadays. do you ever wonder how we were able to make movies like Pretty Baby back in the '70s?

because it's classy and artistic compared to slutty and child whoring and child abuse and child pornography. I mean have you seen those pictures in that terry Richardson photoshoot? they are just about as bad and ugly and classless and raunchy and gross as it gets when it comes to nude photography. there is a difference between Playboy and Hustler when it comes to classy and having value or worth in art.
and the way she gets nude and shows her pussy in concert??? that is so wrong. and the way she dressed at that one concert with the plastic bubbles outfit was going way, way too far. I mean you could basically see every part of her body. it was like she was nude in public.

There is nothing classy or artistic about a child seductively posing naked. The pictures brooke took were over sexualizedld- child pornography plain and simple. She even herself said she wasn't pleased with how her mother managed her in that way.
