Why has her career turned to *beep*

Strongly disagree. Sharon is a great actress.
Casino
Last Dance
Bobby
Basic Instinct
Are all great performances. She's been good in supporting roles too. I guess she's caught that bug over 40's not all actresses careers go from strength to strength. Plus in all fairness she's not that likable unfortunately. -

She had no theatrical training - transitioning from the world of modeling and posing worked great in dumb '80s action movies and trashy noir thrillers. But she's out of her element playing basic human beings. It's a shame, because she was def. one of the better looking actresses to come along in ages - I think her ego got in the way. In AA terms, she suffers from a case of being terminally unique. And it's turned off a lot of people I think.

I haven't seen
The Specialist
either, as it just sounds so plastic and flimsy. (And not in a fun, escapist way.)
But this issue of (bad) roles Stone accepted once she was in demand may be rooted in exactly
what
and
how many
roles are available to actresses in film (especially once they've hit their late 30's.)
I doubt there were utterly
fantastic
roles or projects Stone turned downperformers don't usually strive to appear in junk.

She was terrific as well in the movie "The Quick & The Dead." Independent girl who knows how to take care of herself in the mid-West with a traumatic experience in her youth and in dire need of revenge. That role was perfect for her.
I think she might have lost her way though as you hinted when she was beat by Haley Berry for Catwoman. That pissed her off reportedly and while she took over the female fatale antagonist in that movie it went downhill from there. -

Make of it what you will, but I haven't seen any of the four movies.
I did see "Fading Gigolo" last night and came away with two thoughts about Ms Stone:- Fine actress. Her face conveyed much that could not be said.
- Still looks great. Better than great. The extra features on the DVD showed more of what I'm saying.
In a way, her beauty undermined the movie. No woman as attractive as Ms Stone would ever need to pay for sex. Heck, quite unattractive women don't need to pay for sex; she most certainly not.

Highly disagree. She was never really much of an actress. She just got a few roles in great movies opposite of great real talented male actors that helped her career. Never did she ever make a movie great herself.

I'm not the biggest fan of her skills, either - but even if a part is well-written, you still need to do a good job with it. She did.
I agree she has limited range, but let's not take away from her genuine achievement. Stick Pamela Anderson in a role like that - to use a comparable sex symbol of the period - and you would not get the same effect. Stone CAN act; the fact that she hasn't often had the material or the opportunities to show it is a separate topic.

exactly she never got the respect she deserved as an actress. she was a really good actress. gave a great performance in basic instinct and casino. was always good in every movie she was in.
why her career ended was because she got old. and she relied on her looks so much that when she lost them the casting directors and directors didn't wan to to cast her in movies bc they had this vision of her as being a beauty queen.
the same thing happened to angelina jolie who can't get a big role in a big movie if her life depended on it.

She isn't alone in her assertion that actresses have been given "flimsy and sexist" roles; many, in fact, most Hollywood actresses have said the same thing. That, and the need to look young have limited the opportunities for actresses. Men don't have to worry about agi1c84ng onscreen and have a lot more quality roles written for them (amid some junk), which is why they don't "whine" as much.

It's because, although she's B. E. A. Utiful, she's just an average actress. Plus, she's 57 years old. Her time has passed. She was in some very good movies though, and nominated for Casino, so if I were her, I wouldn't complain. And who mentioned "she's only gotten sexist roles"? Hell, they put smokin' hot Asians in Viagra commercials. I certainly don't want to see Rosie O'Donnell or Whoopie Goldberg in a sexist role or Viagra commercial, so quit fuqcing making excuses.
