3 Women is my favorite! Actually feels like you're in a dream. WONDERFUL performances. You'll never forget this one.
I fully agree with this. 3 Women forever!
And after 3 Women, I also loved Short Cuts, The Player and Nashville. I really enjoyed The Long Goodbye and McCabe and Mrs. Miller. I thought Kansas City was very underrated and interesting too. -

The Long Goodbye..his best by far.
I also loved Streamers and The Player among his lesser known films. Both are brilliant but small films.
Along these mean streets walks a man who is not mean himself - neither tarnished, nor afraid -

MASH
Short Cuts
Mccabe and Mrs Miller
The Player
Gosford Park
Nashville
all the Altman films I've seen so far, and everyone a gem. The best I would say is Nashville for the quality of every vignette, the acting, the music, the range of personalities and how Altman manages to weave all the characters and situations all together. Pure talent. -

That Cold Day in The Park is excellent! I can't believe it's so unknown.
You won't be able to tear your eyes away from the screen. So real it feel5b4s like you're right there with the characters. -

Streamers!
I absolutely loved that movie.
I knew who Altman was, but will honestly and shamefully admit to never have watching any of his other movies besides A Praire Home Companion.
But I just caught Streamers on cable TV the other night by accident because I noticed Matthew Modine, who I think is a great actor and I had never seen this movie before so it was a good thing I caught it from the start because I thought it was great.
They way it was filmed entirely in the same place and how the movie was basically based all on the dialogue. I just thought it was a brilliant film!
And now I'm obsessed and infatuated with wanting to watch all of Altmans work! So any recommendations of which I should look for first?
I tried buying Streamers online, but can't find it anywhere and definitely couldn't find it locally in any video stores. -

Yes, I recommed you watch "M.A.S.H.", and then watch "Short Cuts" again, because those are really his only two decent films. The truth is that Robert Altman is one of the most overrated directors of all-time. All of his film are complete borefests, and his swan song, A Prairie Home Companion, was one of his worst. I'm sure the Academy will make a big stink about his passing away at tomorrow's Oscars. I won't miss Altman much.
