Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Mel Brooks

I was reading about this award. I am a little shocked that he did not received this award this year. This is a rare award that has been given to such greats as George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Whoopi Goldburg, Steve Martin, Carl Reiner and so many others. This is quite a new award it started in 1998. The 2010 recipient is Tinna Fay. I am a huge fan of Mel Brooks and I hope he will received this award some day.

I'd say he's more deserving than Tina Fey

When I think of Mark Twain, I dont' think of Mel Brooks, and vice versa. He's a Borscht belt comic at heart, and he is probably the hardest working comic writer in show business history. How about the Kennedy Center Honors?

Little known fact: Mark Twain actually present Mel with the original award. It's true. Then nobody was deemed worthy again until Richard Pryor in 1998.
I have seen enough to know I have seen too much.

            Tina Fay isn't even funny.
