What TV show did he star in for one episode…..?

There was a TV show that was a weekly series. Each week, a different story. Not Sci-Fi or anything, but like the Twilight Zone or other shows that had different stories each week, and all different. Again, NOT sci-fi, just a weekly show with stories.
In one such show, Clancy Brown played a studio guitarist that was called by a producer, into a recording studio in the middle of the night.
When he gets there, there is this (not a real) famous band that has had it with their guitarist because he's stoned or drunk all the time and they are trying to record their newest album, and can't because their guitarist is wasted again.
Clancy Brown comes in and breathes new life into the band and they nail the songs and get the record done. The "band" is just ecstatic that they covered so much ground recording and have had so much fun (finally) playing music.
All in all, Clancy's character thinks he's the newest member of the band, but in the end, he finds that the band's guitarist comes back and all is forgiven, and Clancy is sent home.
The last scene shows him getting back in bed with his wife, and she asks something to the effect "how was your night" and he just states something to the effect "nothing spectacular".

It wasn't necessarily Sci-Fi. Neither of those.
It was just a show that I think had 3 different short stories.
This episode, he was studio guitarist who was called it for a session, and it happened to be like his favorite band. It's almost like a 20 min version of "Rock Star" but he was a guitarist, not a singer.
The band was recording and the lead guitarist was drunk or stoned, and didn't show, so Clancy was called in to finish the recording. The band made great music and it was eluded that he would be the new member of the band.
Then their guitarist shows up, they all hug and make up, and Clancy goes home at dawn, gets in bed, and his wife asks "how did it go?", and he replies something like "just another night". Like nothing special happened, but you knew his heart was broken that he had to go back to a regular life.
