Columbia75, You were NOT kidding about Tim being in some dreadful movies! I watched Scary Movie 2 for him and could barely make it through it because it was so bad.
I am really looking forward to Worst Witch, his singing is just incredible!
Thank you so much for your input and direction!

He did an incredibly creepy guest villain role (Billy Flynn) on Criminal Minds in a two episode arc - the season 5 finale ("Our Darkest Hour") and the season 6 premiere ("The Longest Night").
He also did most (10 of the 13) of the audiobooks of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" (Lemony Snicket) - they were amazing. They are 2-3 hours long - so that gives you a LOT of Tim Curry voice work!

Your reply could not have come at a better time! I had an 8-hour drive last week and was able to listen to Tim Curry voice work with the Series of Unfortunate Events books the whole time. Thank you so much for suggesting that!
I can't wait to see his episodes of Criminal Minds! My mom loves that show and feels indifferently about Tim Curry and said he was wonderful in it!

Hunt for Red October was a nice change from all the really terrible movies that Tim Curry was only good thing about! I watched Hunt for Red October last week and thought that it was a wonderful movie, despite his small screen time!
Thank you very much for those suggestions! I haven't seen Congo yet, but I plan to now.

I'm really having a good time seeing these Tim Curry films, and greatly appreciate you all for taking the time out to make suggestions for me!
              So far I have seen:
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (wow, I'm obsessed)
              Times Square
              Legend
              Muppet Treasure Island
              McHale's Navy
              Blue Money (Loved this one)
              Jackie's Back
Three Men in a Boat (My favorite so far)
              The Shadow
              Charlie's Angels
              Scary Movie 2
              Annie
              The Three Muskateers
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
              The Hunt for Red October
              FernGully: The Last Rainforest
              National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1
              Kinsey
              Pass the Ammo
There's about 14 more I plan to see, and can't wait to get to the other's that have been mentioned on this thread.
Again, I really appreciate the help and direction you have all provided! Thank you so much!

Ploughman's Lunch (slow but interesting British film, but his scenes are excellent)
Sorted (not a huge role, but again his scenes are great, and it's an interesting story)
                  Wolf Girl is great
Will Shakespeare mini-series (he's amazing as Will)
I've been a fan of Tim's since the early 90s, have met him 9 times over the years in various circumstances (stage doors, live appearances, film sets) and he is just one of my favorite actors all around. I always tended to lean more towards his more obscure British film and TV work if you can track it down some others:
                  Schmoedipus
                  Video Stars
                  Rock Follies of '77
                  City Sugar
Oliver Twist (frightening as Bill Sykes)
For more main stream stuff, do yourself a favor and find the episodes from his short lived sitcom "Over the Top" that he again worked with Annie Potts on. Especially the John Ritter episode. His umbrella scene with John might be one of the greatest moments on film for me, being also a huge John Ritter fan!
For more main stream TV work:
                  Earth 2
Tales From the Crypt (he was nominated for an Emmy for this one and he's phenomenal in it)
Rude Awakening (him and Lynn Redgrave are classic together, he was in 6 episodes total1c84)
The Naked Truth (he was in two episodes)
His role on two episodes of "Roseanne" was great
Wiseguy (BRILLIANT!!! Great storyline, great lead role, great guest stars: Debbie Harry, Mick Fleetwood, Glen Frey, etc. I always said if he got this kind of role in a film, he'd have won an Academy Award because it shows his range from dramatic, comedic, musically, etc.
If I think of more I'll post again, but this should hold you over for awhile lol
                  More main stream movies:
Passed Away (small role but it's a fun movie, with a great cast)
Congo (terrible movie but he's a lot of fun)
                  The Worst Witch
Loaded Weapon 1 (again smaller role, but hilarious movie)
                  More obscure films:
Times Square (one of my absolute favorite films of his, he's a lead role, it's an amazing view as to grungy 1970s/early 80s Times Square in NY and it has an AMAZING soundtrack: The Ramones, The Cure, XTC, this one has been a favorite of mine and my sister's over the years)
                  FRRRRRRRRRRUNKISSSSSSSS!

Ploughman's Lunch, Sorted, and Will Shakespeare are all on the list, and I can't wait to watch them! Especially now that you say he's so good in Will Shakespeare! I have never heard of Wolf Girl, I'll have to check more into that!
I have the same experience as you, it seems that every time I really enjoy a non-American actor, their earlier stuff done in country is always significantly better than their American work. I've been trying to track down Schmoedipus, I'd really like to see that one! I just bought Oliver Twist, and will watch it as soon as I finish the book, which I have never read before this point in my life (horrible, I know) I really can't wait to see him in that! I've heard so many good things! City Sugar is another one I have never heard of, I'll have to look into that too. How did you see Video Stars? I've been trying to find that one for a bit now.
You are not kidding that watching Over the Top is doing oneself a favor! That show was awesome! I laughed through the whole episode, every episode! I can't fathom why it didn't last.
Most of that television work you mentioned I had not heard of, so I greatly appreciate you telling me about that! I've only seen his episodes on Roseanne from the list you provided which were great! (Roseanne is one of my guilty pleasures so it was a joy to revisit him there)
You are also not kidding about Time Square! I was able to track down a copy of that just last week, and even if I didn't love seeing Tim Curry in it, which I did, that soundtrack is sensational! Congo was fun since he got so much screen time. That's been the worst part of wading through his work; he's great in EVERYthing he does, literally, I haven't seen a bad performance of his yet, but wow are some of these films he's in awful. He's definitely the pearl in a great deal of his work.
Can you do me a favor and please tell me about the times that you met him?!? I so wish I could, but I doubt that will ever happen and would love to hear any stories you'd be willing to share?
Thank you so much for your thorough reply! I can't wait to check the items out that you mentioned! Especially those roles I had never heard of!

Hi there. Did you see all 13 episodes of over the top? SCHMOEDIPUS was floating around online I thought awhile back.
All the times I met Tim Curry. .
#1 was Jan 9 1993 after performance of his play My Favorite Year at Lincoln Center in NY
#2 was June 27 1995 on set of Muppet Treasure Island. Friend of mine worked on the film and invited me to set while traveling in UK on vacation
#3 was October 30 2000 in NY at museum of TV and radio. He was doing a live tales from the crypt web cast for Sci fi.com
#4 was randomly on street in November of 2001 on block where I worked where he was staying.
#5 was day after Thanksgiving 2001 on opening day of his play a Christmas Carol at msg
#6 was that December also after that play. Saw it twice
#7 was I want to say 2002 2003 when he was on Kelly and Regis promoting his TV show family affair
#8 was fall of 2004 before performance of his play spam a lot on Broadway.
#9 was Sept 2005 at Broadway flea market last time I saw him

I have seen all the episodes of Over the Top except the 13th, sadly.
Schmoedipus I can't find in its entirety, but I have seen where Tim's scenes are available to view, so that's better than nothing.
What was it like meeting him? Is he just as awesome in person? I'm sorry for being so annoying, I just know I'll probably never meet him so I'm desperate to hear stories >_<

He has always been kind to me and my family and friends when I've met him over the years. Always very generous with his time, even if it was a quick hello. I have several pics of us together. Even my mom has a photo with him lol
As far as Schomedipus, so you should be able to get a copy of the whole film if you look around online. I got my copy from someone on Ebay years ago. So it is out there somewhere.
My mistake there were only 11 episodes of Over The Top. Plus another pilot episode (have you seen that one?) The original pilot took place an upstate resort kind of place, but when it finally aired on ABC, the setting was relocated to a NYC hotel.
Some other fun TV appearances of his I thought of: look for his two episodes of "The Naked Truth", his two episodes from "Will & Grace", and he had a funny guest appearance on Bette Midler's short lived sitcom: Bette!
                          FRRRRRRRRRRUNKISSSSSSSS!

That's awesome to hear that he seems just as great in person!
I'll definitely check into Schomedipus, as I'd really like to see that one! Have you seen Wolf Girl (Blood Moon) I just found it at a garage sale and bought it of course to see Tim Curry. Just wondering if it's any good.
OK, I also thought there were 13 episodes of Over The Top, but yes I've seen both pilots. I liked the first one better with the smaller hotel, but either way such a great show! I'm so sad there weren't more seasons of that! It's so fun to see him acting with Annie Potts.
I wasn't aware of any of those tv appearances you mentioned, so I will definitely check those out!
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and directing my journey! It's been great fun so far!

I love wolf girl. There were actually two different versions the home video which is more violent and graphic visually but the TV version has a little bit more tim in it and different scenes. Either way great film and he's great in it. Enjoy the plucking song!

I really love the film Clue which is based on the board game Clueo.

I would love to see that! I'm trying desperately to find it on VHS too, since I just got VCR.

I wish there was a way to see a lot of his theatrical performances, as well! The only one that is Spamalot. It's on youtube, and there's even the original cast recording (starring Tim!) on an album. One of my friends from college got to see him in Spamalot back in 2005, and she met him and got his autograph! She said he was very nice! 🙂
