      USS Foundation
The foundation, is a Keystone class starship. (other vessels include: USS Keystone, USS Anchor, USS Genesis, USS Mainstay, USS Barricade, USS Stronghold, USS Noah) The ship is meant to be something of a self contained small city. While still smaller than the Galaxy class, The Foundation (et al) can accommodate approximately 700-1000 people comfortably.
Built with two purposes: 1) to maintain a small populace for potential colonization efforts 2) to take a small working contingent of the federation for planned long term missions into unchartered territory. This effectively gives them a body that speaks for the federation anywhere and everywhere. The Foundation has 500 civilians (scientists, diplomats, family members, ranking federation politicians) 200 officers to run the vessel, which is largely automated anyway.
The Brawler is the nickname for the overbuilt, overarmed and oversped vehicle which detaches from the Foundation. This was a special request from Worf, who saw the value of taking the battle far from the people, a luxury he had with the defiant. The actual name is something like "The Newton" but its renamed by Cmdr Jor.
Worf's mission is to go deep into the Gamma quadrant for at least 2 years, and do what bridge building needs to be done in the wake of The Dominion's truncation. The Dominion still exists, but with Odo in the great link, they are much more pliable to peace and cooperation with the federation. Those who are willing, may settle on what worlds they see fit, but for the most part all aboard realize they are essentially part of a larger envoy of the Federation.
Unlike stories like Voyager, The Foundation is packed with people who know what they are in for. A long detached mission. Those without family on board are often orphans or unattached bachelors. It has even been suggested more than a few security officers are serving on the Foundation as a deferred penalty.
Their first conflict arises in the form of a race called the Stazians, a race that had been subjugated by the dominion using bio-mechanical nannites, which kept the people in a state of dull lethargy. With the help of the vorta and dr bashir they are able to deactivate the sedating machines only to find the people hyper aggressive (akin to jem hadar and klingons) a fact that the Vorta did not alert Worf to.
Fire fights, battles ensue with Worf and The Governor striking up an uneasy non aggression pact with the Stazians who warn them that the Dominon will pay for their actions, and that they intend to travel to every Stazian world to reactivate their people. Also, by first story's end it is alluded to that a very powerful being is assisting them to travel much faster than any federation ship could taking the cure with them to their people.

      • Captain Worf, after serving five years as a diplomat to Quonos, Worf has worked his way back into the fold. Despite being told he would never receive his own command, he has been granted one for stellar service to both the empire and federation. It is also known that he has experienced a tragic loss, that he will not speak of. He wishes to get away from both Klingon and Federated worlds for at least a while. He is also a bit more relaxed. His time as a diplomat showed him the dangers of losing one's temper. (Think Half Riker half TNG Worf temperment)
      • Cmdr Orun, male Bajoran, when Bajor joined the federation, it militarized ALL of its officers, including Orun Nelerr. Orun was the son of a very wealthy politician who fast tracked his career in the Bajoran military (post occupation) despite hints of family corruption and war profiteering, the Orun family has been politically cogent pre and post federation. Cocky, spoiled and not the type who likes to get his hands dirty. When his father died, his uncle Orun Fryy took over as the family patriarch. Orun Fryy recognized no good qualities in his Nephew and arranged to have him sent to the Foundation to get a good dose of character. Worf sees him as completely useless, but recognizes the political wrangling at play.
      • Sub Cmdr / Cmdr Zhall female Romulan* one of the RARE "True Believer" Romulans who thinks the Fed/Klingon/Romulans make a much more powerful force together. She still sees the combined entity as a chance for larger conquests, but is slowly seeing things the federation way as well. Captained a much smaller Romulan fighter craft in the dominion war and has been known to boast about her missions which decimated Vorta cloning facilities. Has a thing for Orun, but only as a pretty play thing.
      • Cmdr Fenley Jor, Male Bolian Chief of Security.* first officer is a wise ass and trouble maker. Being a Bolian he just can't keep his mouth shut. Fortunately he does have the chops to stand up and fight when he has to and its usually because of something he started. He implies that his temper and penchant for getting him into fights is one of the reasons he was "sentenced" to the Fo

Agreed! If nothing else, maybe this could be one of the series of independently produced Star Trek series on the internet. Most are generally quite good. Tim Russ even helmed one title "of Gods and Men" which for not having a full Hollywood budget, was still very well done. He has another, "Renegades' due to come out in the future. Fan work, yes, but he had both regular and recurring cast members from every Trek, but TNG.
Here's to hoping we get to see Captain Worf!

Maybe because of the new timeline created by the star trek reboot movie, jadzia could still be alive & by Worf's side.

So is it actually happening then, or is it just one of those things they're thinking about?
It's been too long IMO since ST has graced our TVs, I miss the universe.
I like both the original and new timeline, one doesn't have to mean the other can't exist on an alternative plane.

Haven't heard anything new. I hope it's still a possibility.
