Spanish people are white. No not Spanish speaking people but actual Spanish people you know from Spain are white. In fact Mexican people are mostly just a mix of white and asian (or Mongoloids as the original Mexican people were Mongoloid which is the race of people from the Asian continent. Traveled this way from the ice bridge or something). The Spanish came and mixed with Mexico and what not to create what we know as Mexican today and their language became the standard.

All humans are from Africa -_-. Spain is in Europe though and Spaniards* are Caucasian. Yes the Moors did invade Spain, but that doesn't make them not Caucasian. Same way people from Mexico are mostly Mongoloid/Caucasian.

Moors were descended from Phoenicians who were ancestors of the modern Lebanese, Maltese and Tunisians.
Lawrence Olivier got it wrong when he played Othello as Black African.

Moors were Phoenician people. They originated in what is now Lebanon and colonised what is now Tunisia and Malta.

She lives in SoCal, where many of the nannies for the budget-minded are Spanish-speaking from Mexico or elsewhere in Latin America. She strikes me as someone who would quickly dispatch her child to the care of others, while trying to save a dime doing it.

I'm a Brit who speaks Deutsch so I ask my son questions and he picks it up too. It's called parenting, I also kick a ball around with him but it doesn't mean I am grooming him to play for Scotland one day. Why does everything have to have a reason?

Welcome to the party, raf-33. I am a father of two trilingual girls and I know all the benefits of bilingualism. My initial post was just out of curiosity; was it "only" to widen his horizon or was there a reason as in father/nanny speaking Spanish. Only that 😉

How come she speaks Spanish with her baby? The right question is, why WOULDN'T a parent try to teach their child all the languages they know?

OK, so this topic gets revived every now and then. I just want to make it clear (as the OP) that I understand 100% that anyone can (and should) teach their child any language they want, that's all good. My initial question here was if there was a specific reason for Minnie Driver teaching her child Spanish, the father being Spanish, having Spanish roots of some sort or anything. If so; that would be interesting. If not; no pasa absolutamente nada! 🙂

The father of Minnie's son is producer 'Timothy J.Lea', he was born in Connecticut, but grew up in Australia.
They dated in 2008, they broke up by the time her son was born and he isn't that much involved in his son's life. She and her son reside in Los Angeles & the last I heard, she was having a dispute with her neighbor, an older gentleman who she claims is very voltaire/violent towards her and her son!
I'm only assuming she wants to teach her son a different language which is great, it's always cool to be bilingual or MORE!
