Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Goldie Hawn

I was wondering and posted on the Shampoo site about Goldie's character and if she's based on Sharon Tate…

    1. It was a year before the Manson Murders, and Warren Beatty's character is partially inspired by Jay Sebring, who died with Sharon that night
    2. Goldie plays an actress in this movie, just starting out, gorgeous and blond, who separates from Warren and starts a casual relationship (that you can tell with grow) with a film producer (ala Roman Polanski), who Warren says, "Can take care of her"
    3. In the beginning, Goldie's character is having a panic attack having heard gunshots outside (the film is set in Los Angeles, of course); and says she is worried that someone will eventually "come after her" and she won't be able to get away.
    4. She's friends with Julie Christie's character and in real life Tate was friends with the real Julie Christie.
Anyhow, just wondering. If not, there are tons of coincidences. I do know that there is an actual hairdresser, friends with scriptwriter Robert Towne, that Beatty's based on but that Sebring was an inspiration as well: both are playboy (straight) hairdressers who dated tons of clients, and etc.
