How are they going to replace his character? Or does he die in mocking Jay part 1? spoilers welcome I'm reading the book tomorrow.

He only had 2 more scenes to shoot. They simply rewrote them and gave them to other characters. No CGI or stand-ins.

I have not watched but first half hour of MJ2; is the beginning the only part he is in? How did they put this into the film or was this being filmed and they left it in?

A great actor, but his character in the HG films is not pivotal. They should get along fine in his absence.
