When I see pictures of him now, I cry a little inside

Madchen Amick was fvcking gorgeous back in the day. She's aged, too. Which is too bad, but that's life

James Spader, unlike most in Hollywood doesn't seem to mind being a real person and always delivers on his performances. I'll bet many wrote him off as a pretty face because some earlier roles always had him playing that type. I say to the OP-If you cry a little, that reflects on you.

I thought that way at first, but after watching him in the Blacklist he is still a sexy guy! The way the way he talks, the way he oozes confidencethey're everything. I think not looking like a magazine model but still keeping the charm intact makes the actor even more sexier. To me, this guy will be forever ageless.

LOL. I'm watching "White Palace" now and he almost looks angelic; so beautiful, amazing hair too. He's not a bad looking guy though; just older. But, I always suspected he had some kind of medical issue; at one point he looked kind of bloated and sickly to me. It's possible he just never disclosed it.

I think the difference here is that it's James Frickin' Spader.
Now if let's say you take the looks away from someone like Keanu Reeves, chances are he will never be a crowd-puller again.
I'm not hating on Reeves - I heard he's a really nice guy - but his acting skill isn't in the same realm as Spader, nor does he have that silky smooth voice to fall back on. He gets by largely on his work ethic and looks. -

James will always be fine. Even when he's mummified.
In related news: I know I'm late but what happened to the JSMP message board? I used to love that place? Every time I visit IMDB it's like a piece of my soul gets chipped away. -

That board no longer exist. Most members are here: http://js-spader.proboards.com/
But all the information is gone and it's not as active as it use to be. -

I honestly don't get those who hold your point of view. He gained some weight during Boston Legal, but he's lost it since. His character in The Office was intentionally revolting. But his character in The Blacklist, which he was playing at the time of your post, is smoldering hot. Also, personally, I don't think he was "fine" in the 90s, only cute. Daniel Jackson? Utterly adorable. He stole my heart. But he never stirred up the fire in me that Raymond Reddington does

He's changed A LOT, so I don't blame people for being shocked Still, stuff happens; at least people can appreciate him for his acting, now, instead of it being surface-admiration.

Actually, he doesn't look any worse than anyone else his age does. When he was in his twenties, he was maybe a little bit too pretty. And sort of creepy. That probably helped his career. He's pretty ordinary-looking now.
