About 'Poor Cow' and 'The Limey'

He is supposed to play the same character in both films,but he has different names in each one. Why?

In the film The Limey, it was flashbacks to when he was younger, in trouble with the law. Instead of using a different actor, they showed clips from a 60s film called Poor Cow that had him acting in. It was supposed to be him when he was young, thats all.
If it harms none, do what thou wilt.
