Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Jon Voight

Not only because of his performance in "Midnight Cowboy", but despite all of his support for the President, I still can't equate Joe Buck and Jon Voigt. I think I just fully realized that it's the same guy!

He's great in that role because Voigt is not a dumb guy, but Joe Buck is. He is able to hide his intelligence in that role.

Because he's totally believable as the character he's playing, unlike some actors who are merely playing themselves.

like Jack Nicholson, who I felt was one of the best actors in the 70s, but with the exception of "King of Marvin Gardens", he seemed to always play himself, but I guess it worked for the roles he played. Great movies for the most part.

Cuckoo's nest is probably one of my all time favorite movies, and not just because of Jack. It's another of those films that really gets under your skin, and you never forget it.

R.P. is a threat to the system represented by many Nurse Wretcheds, because he gives the other men dignity, and his own non-conformity inspires. And we know what happens to those kinds of people. They get JFK'd

He’s one of those actors who can disappear into a character.
