Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Roscoe Arbuckle

If you read a little more you will realize that he didn't rape Virginia Rappe.

If you're lazy, just read a little on chapter 3 or 7 for information about Rappe. She had many abortions - Some of her organs may have been destroyed by Rumwell who was thought to have performed a botched abortion on her.
(They know some of her organs were destroyed)

Yes, it's annoying - people will just think of him as a fat digusting slob. He tried to keep clean cut to avoid being considered a fat slob! Plus he was trying to help Rappe when he found her groaning in pain! If he would've stayed out of her room, maybe his career would have lasted.

I know, it's a tragedy. Fortunately there are people like us out there, too.
No one takes the time to read or understand. They'll hear a joke about the scandal and automatically believe it is true. In which they know nothing about the person.
I am very interested in seeing Arbuckle's work, others couldn't careless - they just wanna make jokes.

But wasn't he a major pervert? I read in a Rudolph Valentino biography that a co-worker/friend of Rudy's told him that Roscoe was a major pervert after Rudy received a telegram from estranged wife Jean Acker(who was working on a movie with Roscoe) that ended up being a fake telegram and would have been a cruel joke on Rudy had it not been for his co-worker/friend telling him to ignore the telegram. He had told Rudy that he knew Jean was working with Roscoe and it sounded like a cruel joke that Roscoe told her to play on Rudy.
