Jennybean171, thanks for sharing, that was great little story, your lucky and I envy you!!
I have been projectionist all my life and as a side job have a friend who works as a gaffer on various movies and TV commercials and I often work with him to help out to just perform general-duties/odd-jobs/runner on the sets/locations.
Now when it comes to doing the movies/ads the stars are normally ok, (directors are another matter, strangely movie ones are nicer than TV ad ones!) it's the actors with minor parts and even extra's that are most likely to be w/\nkers that think their sh!t don't stink.
On the projection side I work at an 'upmarket' cinema and from time to time we have the red carpet opening of new movies.
I always get to meet the director and usually the main star because they want to explain how they want things set up for the pre/post show audience participation chat and to explain to me how high they want the volume, ask which sound format we will be running his/their movie in, Dolby Digital-EX, DTS-ES, SDDS etc and they are always quite nice unless unless we get dropouts from digital back to analog during the movie - which is rare anyway, but they get beep if it happens and they notice.
Which reminds when it comes to 70mm (very, very rare these days) the sound track is DTS only111c so we have two DTS players for double redundancy because if the Digital drops out on 70mm you've got no sound at all, now when that happens they get really pissed, because Murphy's Law says it will always happen on a very BIG film at the most important part!
I wish Scott would make a movie that we get to Red Carpet Premier, I'd love to meet him as he has to be one of my favourate actors, if not the favourite! From what I've seen of him in interviews and stuff he seems like he'd be a nice enough guy.
But as for meeting 'stars' in street, well I just don't approach them at all because I know that they are ALWAYS being approached by random people and that would drive me nuts too. I think if I was a 'movie star' and every-other person that I walked pass in public wanted a chat and hand shake, I think it would drive me, you, anyone to become a rude a-hole after a while. So I'm bit lucky that I get to meet them in a more or less professional manner.
The scariest part is IF at the end of a movie the boss gets on the two-way and says, 'Bill the director is coming up to the projection room to see you', I think holy crap what went wrong!! But luckily most time times it's to thank us for a great presentation, it's only when they want to see you DURING the movie that you might be in for some grief!!
Anyway that's just my humble you know what. Sorry for the novel, which most likely bored you to death! 🙂
    B!

I've met him on a number of occasions, he did a few charity performances over the years since QL ended and I attended one of the conventions, its was pretty cool, you got to talk with the writers, directors, guest stars, etc but was disappointed that Donald chose not to attend, he was going through the divorce from Deborah Pratt and she attended so he didn't show up.
One to the Charity events, we met Scott who was always very nice, extremely polite, very down to earth and he had his parents with him and they were just a personable, friendly and talked to everyone. I think this explains who he is as a person. His parents taught him well. I had on new shoes that were killing me, so I stepped back and found a place to sit and took them off for a few minutes. Then, his wife Chelsy, who was very pregnant at the time, came down and sat next to me and said, you're d5b4oing actually what I want to do, do you mine. No, sit down. She was just as nice, she asked me some questions and my friends were getting ready to leave so I told her it was a pleasure to meet her. Another event was for the school his daughter attended in Santa Monica for performance art and Mary Steenburgen two children attended the same school, Malcolm McDowell and Ted Danson were all there. That was another fun night.
On the Rosie O'Donnell Show was that for the film Major League Back to the Minors. Because I was there in the audience with a bunch of friends, we were from all over the Country, CA, NC, OR, PA, NY, NJ. We were the ones that were brought up on stage to take a photo with him. It was funny Jennifer Aniston was the lead interview and she also appeared in a QL episode.

He is in London at the moment in a play and is being horrible to people waiting at the stage door to get their programmes signed, mostly refusing to do it. That is part of the job, so if he doesn't like it, he should get another job. The sooner he goes back to his homeland the better, he is not welcome here.

Hmmmm, well seeing as I saw him at the stage door Saturday night, and he spent ten minutes chatting with me and my friends, happily signing programmes and posing for pictures with us, I think you'll find you're very much mistaken.

Met him, and even sat next to him at a screening. He is an absolute gentleman, and very friendly to boot. Somehow, you had an experience that wasn't with him. Or someone was a bit in the wind.
