You need to watch more of The History Channel if you think all scientist are too smart to believe in GOD.
      You
would be unpleasantly surprised that many scientists believe in God. I'll start the list with Albert Einstein.

well im a Christian, have always been, and i dont really care what this guys religious views are. but i will say that i HATE THAT SONG. its so sappy and stupid and worse then that its about accepeting communism. as far as im concerned, john lennon was right up there with vladamir lennon. he was not at all about peace and love, he was actually against it. lennon was the biggest hack ever and decieved so many people with his sappy songs.

It's a song. It's pretty. Why do you care? The only time other peoples religion/lack of religion, language, or color of skin will stop mattering is when people stop making such a big deal out of it. People are just people.

I was watching the Captains, as he was in Star Trek Enterprise, and basically he is opened minded and seemed to be more spiritual. I never got the impression he is an atheist, to say he respects everybodies beliefs.

Imagine has nothing to do with atheism; one of aspects of the song does deal with the problems inherent to religion, but that is not the same thing.
The reason for this is readily available: look at any point in history, and read about the death and suffering caused by religions of all types. Granted, there are many other sources to be found but few others proffer love and peace using hate and prejudice.
A thinking person might consider that organized religion is an invention of men with an agenda who invariable claim divine righteousness, and that no deity in the history of humanity has ever personally gone into publishing.
Listen to the song again (or Google the lyrics) and hear what is being said, and let go of what you wish/think to hear between the lines.

If he's an atheist then he's a scumbag. I hope he's not an atheist.
