I loved his character in this movie. I loved the way he loved his japanese wife for who she was and how he loved her beauty. His feelings towards her were genuine and profound. The scene where he was angry when he suspected her of wanting to having eye lid surgery to make herself look westernized and how he cried, telling her not to change anything, that he loved her just the way she is, and that if she changes anything, he will leave her, really hit me. I wish I could find a man like that. All men especially, white menall they like are girls with big wide eyes and they don't bother to approach women who don't have these featuresit just sickens me. No man like that character in Sayonara exists today, it's sad. Right now I feel really sad that this marvelous actor is no longer with us. May he rest in peace

Yes he was very good in Sayonara, he put his heart into it, and it makes the character compelling. Too bad you felt down on "all men" when you wrote your post, I hope (if you read this) that you are feeling more positive now, and that you have a good life.
