Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Kate Capshaw

    ECHenrikson — 18 years ago(June 12, 2007 10:32 AM)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to contact Kate Capshaw to see if she would be willing to b68read and consult me on a spec. script I've written entittled, "Revenge of the Fat Chicks."
"Revenge of the Fat Chicks" is a teen comedy where a cheerleader defects from the ranks of the popular to crusade for the rights of the most despised girls at her high school. It's got shades of "Porkys" syle humor in it, BUT it also has a deeper message.
The sucess of "Revenge of the Fat Chicks" is not predicated on being intune with latest style. "Revenge of the Fat Chicks is a timeless story of the inner struggles of clicks that have existed in schools since the dawn of time, and I wrote it with broad strokes so that an older audiece would relate to it too, not just the current teen crowd. I think Kate would make a great consultant because she's seen it all, and doing something a little different may be fun for her.
IF she likes the script maybe she could even help produce it.
Anyway, I would LOVE to get my script in Kate's hands. If anyone knows how I could make that happen, please respond.
E.C. Henry from Bonney Lake, WA
P.S. I'm also the guy, who is trying to get Kate's husband, Steven Spielberg, interested in another script I've written, "Cowboy Alien Diaries."

It might not be worth the effort, dude. I'm pretty sure you're not the only one who's come up with the idea of sending a script to Kate Capshaw with the hope of Steven Spielberg reading it, so it might actually be unusually difficult to get a script through to her (because her and everyone around her are probably already anticipating what you're trying to do).
But if you still want to go to the trouble, the best way to contact her is probably through her agent, aye?
      Good luck!

Kate could do "Revenge of the Fat Chicks" TOTALLY appart from her husband. YES, I would LOVE to net Steven, but "Revenge of the Fat Chicks" is a project Kate could do on her own, AND have a LOT OF FUN with it. It's a teen comedy, painted in such broad strokes that ANYONE who went to a high school should be able to relate to.
I do have another spec. script that I think Kate and Steven could work on together, it's entitled "Cowboy Alien Diaires." I've already sent Amblin Entertainment a query letter about that, AND promptly got Dreamworks legal department sending me a rejection letter.
Anyway, thanks for showing interest, guywhowatchesmovies.

advice from 1 screenwriter to another:
neverb68 post movie ideas in public places for everyone to see. they could be stolen and you would see not one dime of the profits.

Thanks for the advice, silverberetta 17. I'm not looking to do something, stupid. Just put myself out there enough to catch the right right fish. Would LOVE to work with Kate Capshaw on this "teenage girl" oriented script I've written. NOT having an agent I yet, I have to shop my wares somehow.

I said I wouldn't purposely do anything stupid. I'm not the type of person who insults people who offer me advice, silverberetta_17.
THANKS for the advice. I wish you well.

Then you probably should have left out the comma before stupid, stupid.

I never implied that, nor is their any evididence to support that. I'm a HUGE fan of Steven Speilberg would NEVER acuse him of anything unless the truth proved otherwise.
Point: I wanna work with Steven Speilberg NOT be on bad terms with him.

Then at least try to spell his name correctly, mister 'HUGE fan'.

Incorrect. You should have written 'a beep', not 'an beep'.
You should really worry about your spelling, dude.
