You are not alone Jake! I really enjoyed her performance in Indiana Jones and the temple of Doom.
Maybe because she had such a big task in being the next Indy girl after Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) that she was already "doomed" from the start.
Anyway, her performance as Willie Scott worked well as a different type of side kick for Indiana Jones. She was supposed to be a blonde torch songtress in distress and that was exactly what she did in perfection. In my opinion she fullfilled the part thoroughly: looking beautiful, sexy, fish out of the water type and very very moany, screaming and looking scared all the time. She made me smile when i first saw the movie and she still does twenty years afterwards. It seems that old Willie has two admirers after all!! 🙂

Make that six admirers! I've always thought she was the best and most beautiful of Indy's female sidekicks, for the reasons dr_shallowgrave described above. This, combined with the imaginative action sequences and humorous asides, is what accounts for "Temple of Doom" being such a great movie, and in my opinion, the best of the Indiana Jones trilogy.

Make that seven now! Ditto to what has already been stated. Of the three films, this one is my favorite, so it wasn't as well written or intellectual as the first and third, and all are great films that I love and enjoy, but again, this is my favorite! I have seen this film countless times growing up,still watch it to this day, and still quote different lines from this movie, including "Oh my God, Oh my God is he nuts?!", "He no nuts, he's crazy!" Among my favorite parts of this movie is Kate's performance as Willie and was really happy to hear she was going to be in the 4th, but we all know that it is actually Marion (which was a disappointment to me, but I guess in a way makes sense, but that doesn't mean I have to like it) but hey, they could have had Shortround and Willie back too-all three were a family in a way-Did Willie keep and raise Shortround? I digress, I don't like Marion or the Nazi girl in the third film, but Willie, with all her faults, I absolutely love! I still crack up when she pours perfume on the elephant and in response the elephants throws her in the water and she loses her voice! Oh and the night in the jungle when she sees all these animals in different areas and holds the bat and yells! Or when she reaches the end of the bridge and looks up and sees Mola Ram and lets out a piercing scream! Oh man, I crack up just thinking about it! Screw the critics, Willie will always have a fan in me! 🙂

I liked her too. She provided some much needed comedy in those darker moments2000 and like another poster said, acted much more like a normal woman put in those situations.

I respectfully disagree, I thought she way overacted in those situations. I like the character but just not her, she really is bothersome to me in this movie. Loved Shorty though, he's so sweet and cute and that boy could act! However, I am about to watch The Last Crusade which is my all time favorite Indy movie 😄 No one beats SC as Indy's dad! "Junior!" lol Then the kids will be all caught up and we can go see The Crystal Skullfinally!
