Ok, why? what was so bad? Explain it to me.

Your post sounds like it is directed at the OP; but here's my 10cents worth:
I don't totally disagree with what you're saying but you sound like such a douchebag saying it, it's hard to agree with you.
Because there is really not much to disagree with. It's not surprising that Cobain's music appealed to other douchbags and their skanks.
I think Kurt Cobain's self loathing and anger came from the same psychological state that's responsible for creating the anger in you over someone you never met and a form of entertainment, like all entertainment, which is purely subjective.
The fact that there are different forms of 'entertainment' and that it is 'subjective', speaks a thousands words about where most people are coming from and more importantly, their lack of tasteespecially with music.
His mental state was just way more severe and he probably found it harder to bottle up than you do.
A drug and alcohol infused mind, affected his mental state. I would say that was self-inflicted. No wonder he couldn't bottle it up. Price he paid, for wanting fun good times, for the sake of his "art". He couldn't deal with his pain and suffering, so he makes painful music instead as a form of release. Very generous, that he wanted to share it.
Your fascist, 'I don't agree with this so other people shouldn't' perspective is much weaker and socially redundant than any idea Kurt Cobain ever had.
Cobain wasn't universally inspirational or much of a positive role model to begin with, so any ideas or perceptions one might have of him, could hardly be deemed as fascist. Like you admitted in your post, there is not much to disagree with. So what is your real point?
Does that mean the people in your life who admire you are stupid and don't know what they're talking about? I don't think that. It's just the way they feel based on certain qualities they admire about you, although I guarantee you have a few that would make some people want to knock your teeth out.
Interesting that you comment on fascist qualities in the OP's post and opinions, yet you have resorted to violent allusions and assumptions about what others might want to do or even yourself. It's obvious, that you are a conflicted and hypocritical human being.
You can lash back but I'm just being constructive on a topic you started.
You can lash back but I'm just being constructive about your poor taste in music.

Critics love Nirvana.
And the point is? There are critics for many aspects of entertainment, art, food, sport etc. It is all subjective and just because someone is a career critic, doesn't mean they are the voice of reason, based on their opinions. Critics that love Cobain, would be into similar brand\style of music. Most likely, I wouldn't give them any credence.
What music do you like?
Quality, sound and melody. Lets just say the finest.

My point regarding critics was that obviously Nirvanas music wasn't just for low class scum.
Even those that aren't low class scum, can't always be relied upon for taste.
And you like "quality and melody, the finest? Can you give some examples?
Mozart

So you only like classical music? Is all rock and roll "low class" and "talentless"? I'm sure that many people who enjoy Nirvana also enjoy Mozart. I myself am not a big Nirvana fan ( I like SLTS, HSB, and only a couple of others. I am not a classical music "fan" but I can still appreciate it and enjoy it when I do hear it.

So you only like classical music?
Where did I say I only like classical music? You asked for an example and I gave you one of the finest. I have a very varied, selective taste. Lets throw 'The Eagles', into the mix. They had the grunge look, 2 decades before Cobain hit the scene. The only difference is, is that they were exceptionally talented musicians and all Cobain was able to emulate, was their dress code.
I had a friend who liked 'Nirvana'. He also had his own band and their was music was grungy rubbish too. Of course they wanted to be like Cobain. They had interesting and possibly some profound lyrics too, that could have been considered poetry: you just couldn't hear them properly, through the awful noise they made. Not to mention, when they did gigs at grungy pubs, they were usually in an alcohol or pot induced state of mind. No doubt inspired by Cobain. I guess I have higher expectations, when it comes to music. -

So Cobain/Nirvana did have some deep and interesting lyrics but you don't like the instrumental sound?
Possibly; but the lyric is not enough. Never took much time to listen or attempt too listen. As far as I'm concerned, life is too short, to waste on 'Nirvana'.
You seem to link playing while on drugs/alcohol with you having higher expectations when it comes to music. So dislike any band that plays while high/drunk?
You are generalizing here and attempting to play the devil's advocate with me. I am making a correlation, about the attitudes and behavior of some of these grunge bands and many of their followers. I am aware that it comes across as pigeonholing and each to their own; but at the same time, it can also speak volumes about some people's tastes and outlooks. The sound, is base and negative to me and I don't find it stirring for the soul. 'The Eagles', for example had found their's and that is why their music operated on a different level. Mos1b40t Grunge artists are still looking for theirs and are deluded about genuine, raw talent. Play Mozart, in a greenhouse and the plants will flourish, play Cobain in an identical greenhouse, with the same amount of TLC and they will most likely wither.
You do realize that someone can have clinical depression? It's not just a matter of willpower and not doing drugs.
Chugging down copious amounts of booze and ingesting drugs, isn't going to help any anxiety\depression disorders either. Was he diagnosed with 'clinical depression'? Did he actively seek help? I don't know!

Good points, rascal67, I'll admit I did like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Come as You Are" when it first came out. It was something different for the rock scene. I do think that Nirvana's legendary status is overblown and propped up by MTV, Rolling Stone and the Media. There was something about Kurt Cobain that didn't sit right with me. He's treated like some larger than life figure.

Get off your high horse, dude: it will get you no respect.
Whatever dude! This is an open chat thread dude, and not a fan site dude. I am not on here looking for others respect and least of all respect for the music of Cobain dude.

Right, but you are aware of the massive fan base nirvana has and their status in music history. If you come on here putting "talent" in quotations when you talk about Cobain, you are going to get retaliation.
But there isn't even an argument here. Who cares about how high he was? I have the albums to listen to until I die and they bring me much joy. There are plenty of non-famous people who use drugs and drink who can gain something from Nirvana's music too.
I didn't read most of what you've posted here, to be honest. It seems like you could be saying the same things about the most famous punk like the Ramones or the Sex Pistols. The Eagles are fine, but some people want to hear music that sounds dangerous. -

Whatever gives you joy, that is what it is all about and what people like is their prerogative. Why others would choose to follow the music of Nirvana, when I feel and know there is much better quality sounds and music around is what bamboozles me. I don't think it takes that much "talent" to produce sounds like Nirvana made and many who want to emulate it, are looking at a quick and easy way to fame and fortune. It is a delusion. Cobain got lucky.
I enjoy many movies that would be considered crap by many; but I also like many that are considered quality and are acclaimed, and yes it is all subjective. I think many don't open up or broaden their horizons and then brush of music that is of higher standard and quality, and all because they don't understand it, or think it is "boring" and generic. Music is the highest of the arts and operates at a transcendental and vibrational level. Angry dangerous music might attract just that, angry and dangerous people.

I'm about as dangerous as a leaf, but I sure love some angry music. You can avoid the types of people you look down upon by not going to metal and punk shows, though I'm sure you may run into ones occasionally elsewhere.
Hey, I like GG Allin so you must think I'm retarded (I have no taste and have not had the privilege to hear real, quality music) and there really isn't any point
talking to you anymore.
I love Son House, Blind Willie Johnson, good country, clever rap, movie scores, etc. etc. etc. Nirvana is but a small part of the musical spectrum. You accuse fans of Nirvana of being scared to discover other music but it sounds like you're the one who is being close minded.
