Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Kurt Cobain

I had two weeks of vacation and decided to hop in my '96 Buick Century and traverse the desert lands of Arizona when I happened across this dusty little town that was isolated with a real earthy charm and atmosphere. I figured it would be a good place to rest my britches and replenish my energy with a tasty burger and malt from this quaint little diner I happened upon. THAT IS WHEN THE MAGIC BEGAN! I sat in this booth not far from the corner, my back facing what appeared to be just some random long haired older stranger seated directly behind me wearing a dark cowboy hat. I was promptly served and enjoying my meal when the PHONE of the stranger behind me rang. Being a life-long Nirvana fan I instantly thought to myself "WOAH! This guy sounds EXACTLY like Kurt." Without making a sound I slowly turned around and re-noticed the hair.the body.the inflection in the voice. I didn't know what to do so just tried my best to eves-drop in on the conversation. I remember at this point a few short answers on his part"Yeah""OK".and then a LAUGH that to this day shutters through my soul and makes my eyes well up. I then heard "All rightwell I'm done anyway so I'll be looking for you nowI'm just going to step outside and wait." Then the moment that will FOREVER be seared into my memory happened when this 'stranger' got up, threw a $20 bill on the table and turned around to leave. As I turned to look he DELIBERATELY grabbed the brim of his hat and lowered it over his eyes when he noticed my curious gaze. He was too late though. I had seen the eyes..the unforgettable eyes.I was frozen in time as he stepped outside, lit a cigarette and was promptly picked up by what appeared to be a vintage Volvo of some kind. I so wanted to follow him but it was as if some outside force left me paralyzed in that booth, sitting in utter astoundment and awe.

Neither picture does justice to the vision I saw and the voice I heard. Once I get my Buick back I'm heading down to Benson with what little money I have saved and taking any job I can find to become a member of that community. I'll be living out of my car for however long it takes to afford some kind of cheap dwelling with a roof over my head. John Yager's song Benson Arizona may have been my initial reason for visiting, but like Savage Minnesota that town has a magical aura surrounding it, unspoiled by modern ways. Some places are like that, you know.
