I've never been a huge fan, but she's a revelation in this movie.

She is also wonderful in "On the Beach" and her small but effective role in "Seven Days in May."

Ava was brilliant and an overrated actress and easily outacts the overrated Richard Burton. THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA is one of Ava's best.

I assume you meant 'underrated', as you had just called her 'brilliant'. I watched
          On The Beach
tonight, and thought she was terrific. Great chemistry with Gregory Peck.

            Yikes!!
Ava was underrated. Richard Burton was the overrated one.
And yes, Ava had great chemistry with Gregory Peck.

I grow less and less impressed with Buton as I get older. He comes across as hammy, but also weirdly angry on-screen. Gardner easily outclasses him.
