Seems like Garner usually played the "good guy". I was wondering if he ever played a villian in any movie or TV episode. I came up with his role in Twilight (his character was killed by Paul Newman). Anything else?

In 1970, he, Dennis Weaver, Claude Akins, and John Marley were part of a gang of robbers who broke into a prison to steal a shipment of gold being kept there. One good movie from the spaghetti western era. There were no real heroes in the movie so since they were all villains I guess this is another villain role for him. If anyone has not seen it, I will say the winner was kharma.

' A Man Called Sledge.' Garner later said it was his absolut worst picture. But with a cast like that; how could it be that bad? Actually; it was pretty good, and deserves a look. Garner, Weaver, and Morrow in the same picture0 c;mon. I liked it. But; it was kind of a quick rip off of Eastwood Italian films. Nonetheless; you'll like this movie.

Was the character he played in "Rockford" heroic ?
Sometimes "Jim Rockford" was very noble but other times he was not. "Rockford" is not in my view shown as ever being an out and out villain but he sometimes walked the line. -

May James Garner rest in peace. A life well lived and loved by many. We will miss you. I enjoyed Rockford and Rockford was not afraid to take short cuts if it was necessary. I thoroughly enjoyed to shows where Angel was always getting him in trouble with his hair brained schemes. Rest In Peace
